Guest guest
My Dad was diagnosed with colon & rectal cancer in April. He had his large intestine & rectum removed. We have since found the rectal cancer had spread to his lungs and a lymph node in between. He is unable to have surgery due to copd. He was told in July that he could have 20 months to live with chemo. He started having trouble breathing a couple of weeks ago and they treated it as pnuemonia. He went to the hospital 9 days ago and was treated as pnuemonia for three days until he ended up in ICU. They finally did another CT and determined that the cancer in his lungs has grown faster than expected and also drained 12oz off one lung. He showed immediate improvement and they started him on radiation. He has since gotten progressively worse. The Dr's are saying that he may not even get more radiation. My Dad wants to fight this and is hanging on. They don't want to drain the lung again as they say it has equalized and that it would fill back up in a matter of hours. I don't want the Drs to give up on Dad he is only 67. They keep trying to make him say he doesn't want to be on a ventilator and go no code. He keeps saying that he wants to fight it and doesn't want to be euthanized. I am not sure if they are doing all they can. Please, does anyone have any ideas? They say he is too weak for chemo and now maybe radiation.
