Guest guest
Hi Sandy and welcome and I am so glad you have learned alot. I myself am still learning. But when we refer to brain fog it is when we don't remember and can't think clear about something, at least that is my take on the meaning and trust e i have a big case of "brain fog" lol . I think I would talk more to the Doc about your problem hon I don't know cause i am not a doc by any means but having when feels or sounds like fluid in your head does not sound right to me,and accompanied by slight pressure hmmm. I have had the lightheadedness but that was due to my blood pressure I had run out of my pills and had to wait till pay day to refill them and being off them for 3 days made me very funny in the head lightheaded and had echoes of my heart beatingin my head sick to the stomach and so forth but not sure that I had any fluid sound or pressure. I hope things go well for you at this sleep study and they find out what it is sounds like it would be awful annoying and miserable. Maybe one of the other ladies could help more that I can since I am still new and learning to. Tinasimply_redhed wrote: Hi guys. I have been a member for a month or so but mostly I have just read what you all have posted.(and haved learned soooo much) Now I have a question. I have heard the term "brain fog" alot and thought I knew what it meant...but maybe not. For about 5 days now I have had this slight pressure in my head and very slight light-headedness. I'm measuring it by "slight" because I had had this same thing very much worse. It feels like fluid in my head. I feel generally poopy! I have tried fluid pills (have alot of fluid in my body anyway) and its not helping. When my hypo. got to its worse this problem was also at its worse. Any feedback to help me??? Let me add that my Dr. had in the past been treating me for an ear infection...for two months before she finally sent me to a E.N.T. (ear, nose , throat.)specialist. At the moment he is still trying to figure it out as he says that I have no ear infection and have not had one.He is waiting until after my night at the sleep clinic to make a further diagnosis. I KNOW it has to do with thyroid somehow. Please advise me with anything that pops into your head! lol Thanks so much, Sandy Tina JJOIPPKOOUNUJOP'IUJK0--9UTINA MK-099-99\OP'[-0 I]9IKI099 U[ Yahoo! Guest guest
Tina touched on this already.... brain fog, brain farts... same thing.. the tendency for the brain to hitch and memory to fall out and you just stand there and wonder why..... .....going to another room, getting there, then not knowing why you went there.... ....reading something, re reading something.. then reading it again and still not remembering what you read. ..... putting your keys in the freezer, putting your pizza in the microwave instead of the freezer, finding your hair brush in the oven... totally flummoxed when you can't figure out why you're trying to put a roll of toilet paper on the paper towel holder (boy.. you have NO idea how glad I was that no one was here when I was trying to get that wooden rod to push through the toilet paper roll tube... I was sooo brain womped that I couldn't figure it out at first! It was too big to fit and I kept trying anyway!) .... having a conversation with someone and stopping in mid sentence cuz you dont' have the foggiest idea of what the heck you were saying... Now... fluid.... Have you discussed Lymphedema with your doc? It involves a build up of fluid that is not helped by using diuretics, in can sometimes show symptoms that you've listed as the fluid and pressure builds..... Lets pick at this some more... share more of what you are feeling and lets see what we can figure out... Then you'll be able to talk it over with the doc better when you go in.... I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH FLUID RETENTIOIN FOR A LONG TIME. I HAVE SOUGHT ANSWERS FROM A NUMBER OF DRS...THEY JUST GIVE ME LASIX.IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE. ITS SO BAD IN MY LEGS AND FEET AT TIMES THAT IT HURTS TO BE ON MY FEET FOR LONG. MY HEAD FEELS LIKE ITS GOING TO BUST AT TIMES...NO HEADACHE THO...JUST PRESSURE. IT " FEELS " AS THO I HAVE AN EAR INFECTION...BUT I DON'T. I HAVE BEEN SO DIZZY I COULDN'T STAND UP. MY SKIN LOOKS LUMPY FROM THE FLUID. THATS ALL I CAN THINK OF RIGHT NOW. NO..HAVEN'T HEARD THE DR MENTION LYMPHEDEMA BUT I WILL BRING IT UP. -- In The_Thyroid_Support_Group , topper2@j... wrote: > > Tina touched on this already.... brain fog, brain farts... same thing.. > the tendency for the brain to hitch and memory to fall out and you just > stand there and wonder why..... > > ....going to another room, getting there, then not knowing why you went > there.... > > ...reading something, re reading something.. then reading it again and > still not remembering what you read. > > .... putting your keys in the freezer, putting your pizza in the > microwave instead of the freezer, finding your hair brush in the oven... > totally flummoxed when you can't figure out why you're trying to put a > roll of toilet paper on the paper towel holder (boy.. you have NO idea > how glad I was that no one was here when I was trying to get that wooden > rod to push through the toilet paper roll tube... Guest guest
The main thing that pops into my head is autoimmune ear disease, if that's what you call it. The antibodies of thyroid disease can also affect the inner ear parts. I notice that this has not been talked about for quite some time on the thyroid sites I belong to, but we did discuss way back there. I'm thinking that they could have attacked my inner ears, as I had falling down vertigo waayyy back in 1998, and have since had permanent earringing for the last almost 8 yrs or so. I will never know, but someone on one of the sites put me onto this a couple of yrs ago, and I went in and did some reading on the sbjct and came up with thyroid antibodies affecting the inner ear balancing mechanisms. I believe that I have never felt the same since that one to two month long bout with vertigo. Allergy meds, including by mouth and the steroid nasal sprays were prescribed for me, but these doctors around here don't know anything about autoimmune thyroid, at least the ones I've seen. One ENT said it was allergies, but I've never been the same since then, and I believe that I have permanent damage to my inner ears since that time. That was right at the time that my thyroid status changed, with more fatigue, nausea, sickness, and all the other good stuff that goes with thyroid and adrenal fatigue. BTW, I have read that adrenal upset does cause upset in the ears, in some weird way. Who would know that something so far away from the ears could cause these sorts of things, but I have read it as one possible explanation. ? About " BrainFog " ? > Hi guys. Guest guest
O MARY!...thank you for posting that info! I know that you are onto something thats pertinate here. I too have ringing in the ears (and pressure.) Ear, nose and throat Dr says it isn't due to allergy. They have tried me on all that junk too...sprays and pills of varied kinds. DR says... " this is something way more serious than allergy " He hasn't yet said what it is tho. He is waiting until after I go to the sleep study. How those are related I have no idea. I do that on the 10th and will see him again 2 weeks after that. I'll keep you posted. Guest guest
I'm determined not be negative here on this sbjct, but many doctors who have no intricate understanding of other places in the body that can be affected by Hashi's antibodies will probably just peg it as otosclerosis (spelling?) of the inner delicate ear parts. That is a " hardening " , so to speak, of the way those parts move with the induction of sound into the ear, but, what I don't get is how they can explain away this permanent earringing? The one audiologist that I saw that day said that it could be explained by permanent fluid in the bony parts of the inner ear and that if they went in there to remove fluid, that they could remove too much of it, leaving me deaf for the rest of my life, but------we must have this tiny amt of fluid to maintain our balance and to translate things into sound, so, the truth is that, she was guessing around there. I didn't have insurance and not much cash. Otherwise, they would have done an MRI on my head and probably investigated it much further. Way down the road (yrs) is when I discovered that it could probably have been an autoimmune reaction that really got my antibodies munching down. With me, it has not been proven either way. I hope they are able to determine something with you, let us all know, please. Re: ? About " BrainFog " ? > O MARY!...thank you for posting that info! Guest guest
Here are some links concerning AIED. Notice in this first one the reference to COCH5B2 (CochsackieB2 Virus, a common viral infection of most of us at certain times of the yr). This virus is COMMONLY found in people (by different studies already performed) who were given Interferon for their Hep C infections. I just read about this one somewhere else, strangely. The studies were done on people who became---you guessed it---hypothyroid or did come down with Hashimoto's Disease. Isn't THAT coincidental! It is also known that the Hashimoto's disease runs in families because of a quirk in a particular chromosome, the HLA something-or-other, so notice the reference to that particular group of chromosomes in AIED. Coincidental? I don't think so. http://www.tchain.com/otoneurology/disorders/autoimmune/aied.html This is a more updated version of the same person or doctor. Notice the info hasn't changed that much yet. http://www.tchain.com/otoneurology/disorders/autoimmune/aied.html Funny thing about what is said in this link----One week after I had left my window open while sleeping, when Texas had those Mexican fires rolling across us back in 1998, is when I got out of bed one morning and fell flat in the floor with severe vertigo. THAT's when ALL the fun began. Are we having fun now? It was just the day before when the tinnitus had started, but I was alREADY having a further failure in my thyroid gland from Hashimoto's, so my immune system was already going wild. Needless to say, the little monsters may have been in an even more confused state of what to attack at that particular time, i.e., already sensitized. Think back to a possibility of when you may have had some type of exposure to something that was horrendous for YOUR immune system, at the same time that you probably already had Hashi's antibodies plus some other autoimmune diseases going on. http://www.hearinglosshelp.com/AIED.htm This one has contacts that can show you to studies and the like at the end of the article. http://www.shhh.org/html/hammerschlag01.HTM You can google " What is Autoimmune Ear Disease? " and come up with myriads of links like these. I strongly suspect that I have it, but until I win the lottery, I suppose I won't be finding out for sure. Killing off the thyroid antibodies by TSH suppression will help the thyroid, but what about other body parts like the ears. Haha, good question, huh? Re: ? About " BrainFog " ? > - > > > > P.S.
