Guest guest
Hi all. I have a question regarding Brielles sleep. She is always facing the left side while sleeping and during play. I have started side sleeping her on her right side, so her right ear hits the ne of those head-n-back pillows. Should I not have the pillow in the crib, its designed to prevent plagio, but since she has it, should I have her side lie with her ear touching the pillow and do I have her on the correct side if she tends to look to the left. If she looks to her left side does that mean that the left neck muscle is the weak/tight muscle? This is really confusing. I just don't want to be doing anything wrong. We have EI coming out next week, but I wanted to start stretching her now. Thanks, Debbie

I would sleep her completely off of that left side and have her facing the right as much as possible. As far as which side the tort is on I was told since Meggi liked to look to the right the tort was on the left so if Brielle likes to look to the left then her tort is on the right. I would double check that though with the doc, the other ladies or the PT. I would have her lay on her side completely with her right ear to the matress if I were you. Then it is harder for her to wiggle and face to the left. Especially if you use the velcro. I have gotten really fast results with sleeping Meggi completely on her left side (plagio on the right) at night. I think that she is ready to start alternating sides to keep her head even after just 5 or 6 weeks of repo. You should have quick great success too with Brielle since her case is pretty mild. I t is also probably going to be more comfortable for her to lay completely on her side as far as the tort goes because it is not requiring her to look over her shoulder to the right where the tight muscle is. (does that make sense?) That will become easier with the stretching and it sounds like you're doing great there! Let me know what happens! Guest guest
Debbie, If Brielle is looking left, than the tort is actually on her right side. So, you are correct in what you are doing. You can find the stretches in the files section here, just print them out and do any of them that make complete sense to you and you feel comfortable doing. They are pretty basic, but sometimes can be confusing, remember to get the stretches for right side tort.A good rule of thumb to remember is to do stretches at each diaper change. Once you do them a couple of times you will be more comfortable. Brielle may cry and fuss, but it has to be done for her to get better, so keep that in mind. As long as the crying is not hysterical keep doing them, but if she gets too worked up then, stop and give her hugs and kisses and go again at the next diaper change. If you can keep this up you will be surprised at how fast they begin to get more range of motion(ROM). Tort can be a pain because it likes to show you progress one day and not the next, but it will continually be getting better, so don't let little set backs worry you. Also just in case you didn't know, if the child is sick, especially with a fever or teething severely, tort can get tremendously worse, but when they feel better so does the tort. Hope this helps. What a good mommy Brielle has. CAROLG --- In Plagiocephaly , " datb71 " <aguinesslover@h...> wrote: > > Hi all. I have a question regarding Brielles sleep. Guest guest
Thank you! I think I understand it now. The stretches are hard and she fusses and cries. I feel like she is going to start hating me. Tummy time is the same thing, but we are working on it with towel rolls and hard cushions. I'll keep you posted. Debbie and Brielle > > > > Hi all.
