One reason I don't like this show is because they always seem to make everyone seem so pitiful and really go for your emotions (and I am emotional too.) It seems exploitive to a degree, even though you can't argue that they are doing good for the families they help. And yes, I was touched and I cried. I watched the show, curious to see how they would portray the family. I think they choose a good representation in the deaf couple they picked (and they did not try to make us feel sorry for them-they were contributing members of society, self-sufficient, happy. . .etc) One odd thing I noticed-- both boys were in the pool while they were on vacation and the older boy was signing into the hand of the younger boy--now the parents didn't seem to be around and why would he do that? I understand why the parents did, because that was how they communicated with him, since he is blind and they are deaf, but the two brothers usually communicated orally.
