Guest guest
My thyroid was removed in November cuz it was cancer (and dying.) December 9th I started 200 mg Levothyroxine. I see endo next week, I expect it will be raised cuz I'm wiped out when on it alone. I used to have to eat some kind of protein about every 4 hrs. 5 hrs was about the maximum I could do. My blood sugar dropped otherwise (dx by noticing my physical symptoms - sweaty/clammy, weak, nauseous, shaky, tired, rubber legs.) I am not diabetic, it was tested last year(and if I ate sugar, I bet it would have come back as diabetic.) I've done the - eat every 4 hrs, for 13 yrs. I also stay away from refined sugar, and some naturals - juices have been like mainlining sugar, and some fruits, pineapple, oranges. When I got some energy back after the surgery, about the time T4 med kicked in some, and I could start thinking better (tsh had been 163), I started noticing if I go longer between eating, I don't get the blood sugar drop symptoms. I can eat now because my stomach is growling, not so to keep blood sugar up. In my fatigue, and brain fog accompanying hypothy, and I'm still somewhat hypothy, I would be too tired to go get something to eat when it was time per my past every 4 hr schedule. I would wait till I had to go potty, then grab something to eat. I have gone 6 and 8 hrs before eating something and the low blood sugar symptoms haven't hit. I've done that multiple times. I find it interesting. It's not an eating schedule I recommend, but in being unwell, it's what I've done. Right now it's been 6 hrs, I think, since I last ate. My stomach is feeling hungry, but I don't have the low blood sugar symptoms.(I'm trying to decide what I'm going to eat.) I'm keeping an eye on it, but I find it interesting that the low blood sugar symptoms stopped. jane
