Wonder if you got radiation sickness too, like I did... like a really really bad flu.... all over achy.. sweaty.. but no diarrhea....

I'm not pleased that they are having you wait so long... Might be time to find a better doc.

They should have run an antibody test to determine the cause of your being hyper... they should be testing now, more often then every couple of months, to see how your function is.... It would REALLY be good to know the why....

How is your appetite?

When you are in a hyper state your metabolism is high.. that means that your body is using up more oxygen and such... after the treatment, both the RAI and the meds, the metabolism slows... but your muscles and organs are still remembering the increased oxygenation... that is the sense of not getting a deep enough breath...your body remembers it... but can no longer breathe as fast as it did when hyper... you start to do a deep breath/sigh thing... it's hard to explain... When you get to feeling that way, stop and take some deep slow breaths, it increase the oxygenation... good deep breaths to get the old stuff out... but don't hyper ventilate, you'll look REALLY silly when you fall down (not that I'll admit to being one that did that).

Dealing with the hysterectomy too.. that's got to make it harder.....

For me.... I'd want to know what is going on.. why the gland is funky... to get an actual diagnosis.... just saying that you are hyperthyroid is not a diagnosis... the analogy that I like for that is to be told that you have a runny nose, but to not tell you why you have a runny nose.... is it cuz of a cold, or the flu? An allergy? Or did you just fill the pepper shaker? The cause of the runny nose determines what you do about the runny nose.... Get what I mean? You need to know what is causing you to be hyper....

I do have somemore info that may help, explain my situation a little better,as Topper put it,the more info the better.(Thanks , for making me feel unalone) This all started last April, I had a lump in my throat that would not go away, it did not hurt but was always there. I had blood work done which came back normal. I then went for an ultra sound, which showed massive nodules.During all this I was also dealing with utereus problems. In the beginning of Aug i went for the RAI test, I was told I had a hot nodule which ment no cancer. The second week of August I had a full hysterectomy, but they left the ovaries for now.The last week of Aug. I had the RAI treatment, I recall the numbers 121 if that means anything to anyone. within two days I was really sick my throat was very swollen where I ended up in the hospital and I was running high fevers. I was put on predazone for two weeks which seemed to help. I left everything alone as I was now only dealing with the feeling of something feeling like it was stuck in my throat all the time. I was and still am having a hard time recovering from my hysterectomy. But in the last two months my throat started swelling again,I had the shakes all the time, my heart felt like it was going to jump right out of me,I had and still have severe headaches, swallowing would hurt quite often, sooo... I went back to the dr.s and then also called my endo. Saw both right away and the rest you know. The test scores I gave you was all that was written besides what the normal ranges were. for tsh it was from.04 to 6.4 and for t4 from 12 to 24.The large goiter was on the right and has grown I am sure, feels like it anyway. I do not go back to see the endo till March, and my family dr. refuses to do anything with me if it has to do with my thyroid. Well thats my story, no one has mentioned hash or any other names. just hyper to me in the medical field. I am disgusted in the way dr.s treat me, no explanations, nothing. My animals get treated better than I do with both dr.s. I can'thelp wondering if they screwed up by sending me for the RAI treatment. Oh yeah it was the dr. in charge of neucular med that looked after me when I had the reaction.my endo wouldn't even call me back.So I'm not sure where to go from here. All I do know I am 38 years old and am Tired of feeling like a very sick 103 year old. I want to enjoy my life again, be able to play basketball with my 12 year old again, so if anyone has any suggestions I am all ears. I have gotten more support from you all in the past 2-3 weeks than I have from anyone in the past 2 years. THANKYOU

Hi,

I'm going to let the people on here with more

experience give you there advice, but I just wanted to

tell you welcome to the group! You're right -

and everyone here have been a tremendous source of

support for me.

I have Hashimoto's. I know how you feel as far as your

heart pounding in your chest - I was just put on a

beta blocker for that...and the tremors - even if

people can't see them, I can feel them radiating

throughout my body. It's exhausting. As far as having

a swollen thyroid, mine is swollen for the second time

in about 1 1/2 years...when your thyroid swells, it's

called thyroiditis (or in my case with the

Hashimoto's, it's called thyrotoxicosis....someone

correct me if I'm wrong about this...but knowing which

one you have is important to the kind of treatment you

receive).

Anyway, I just wanted to welcome you and tell you

you're not alone. I'm 29 and feel like I'm 90....but

we'll get through this together!!!

Hi ya Rose, First of all welcome to the family and secondly you are not alone we are all here to help where we can. I think in my opinion you need to find another Doc Asap. Things don't sound right to me , now I have not had RAI ever in my life , but have had the Hysterectomy in 2004 and I felt tired and iritable but not to the degree that you are it sounds to me like your thyroid. You need to find another Doc that will listen to your complaints and let you help make the decisions in your treatment. Have you had your Blood pressure checked lately ? My heart beats like that when my blood pressure goes up. But then of course I have had a TIA. you just need to cover all your bases. so you can say no that's not it i have had it checked. Your BP can also give you a headache if it is high. Sweetie you need to put your foot down and demand to see the Doc not ask to see him . Tell them you will not make it to your next appointment that it is an emergency

and he has to check you know cause your in pain. I am not sire I think I would call the endo he is the one in the long run who will have to monitor you right. Then I would start checking for another endo as soon as possible. I hope this has helped a little. Tina" J.

Tina" J. Thanks Tina, I took your advise and called my endo dr. to set an appointment to go over things. Her receptionist told me she had a full schedule and would have to speak to her first. That was on Thurs. No call back yet. I will call again Monday. My problem is , you have to be referred by your dr. to see a specalist out here. I am going to start looking for a new endo and make my dr. refer me. Wish me luck.Tina Hummel wrote: Hi ya Rose, First of all welcome to the family and secondly you are not alone we are all here to help where we can.
