Guest guest
I watched a program last night about doctors and the changes. One doctor was saying that many years ago doctors would talk with their patients, follow up by calling them at home and making sure everything was fine... that included how the rest of the family felt. Doctors then also explained to the family members what it was his patient had, what to expect and how to handle it. This doctor then stated that everything has changed. Doctors today do not talk to their patients enough, don't follow up with a call and never or rarely talk with the family. Now, it's up to the patient to ask ALL the questions so he/she can explain it to the family. The bad part of all this is that family members don't or won't believe the patient..... not like they would if it were coming from a doctor. This doctor also stated that out of all the professions a doctor has the most schooling and now has the least contact with the patient. He especially stressed this is the case in private practice when money and making payroll is more important than the patients problems. One way to keep that patient coming back in over and over again. Larger teaching clinics don't have that concept. I think all of us on this list have been to crazy doctors... I call my EX doctor, Dr. Stupid, because it fits the bozo. I agree that after a while you get tired of hearing all that isn't wrong with you yet they never tell you what is wrong. I also doubted myself and really thought I was going nuts. AFter all a doctor said I was OK! Now I know that not all doctors are created equal and we have the " A+ " doctors and the " D " doctors who still able to get a license. I think it's very important to be able to vent to others who know how you feel. I can't tell you how many times a person has written about the mood change or the crying and not knowing what to do or why they're doing it. Depression is part of this disease and needs to be dealt with. But if you don't know what's happening especially when your doctor didn't forwarn you... where do you turn?.... Right here! So vent all you want.. Take care ~ Vicki ~ Myositis Info Links
