Guest guest
, Are you talking about getting the at 's Game Ear? I don't know, but I would really worry about the quality. Who would be programming them? I would be VERY careful about this. I did not intend for anybody here to pursue this for their own child, and am almost sorry I posted it!! I am quite skeptical. I think the flexibile aspect merely allows them to be " one size fits all " and gets around having to make an ear mold. (The ITC aid is not shown or described in Wired, by the way. It's a BTE in the picture.) Lydia > > Fantastic! The technology is also moving forward in the area of > ITE/ITC/CIC digital aids for adults and children. Guest guest
On no, of course not--The " Soft Aid " technology is unrelated to the companies mentioned in Wired. However, The idea that tech is changing the future classroom is on par with the realities of available technology today --i.e. " Soft Aids. " Soft Aids are state-of-the-art digital aids that are programmable for children. Most pediatric audis have not heard of this yet. The standard BTEs have always been thought to be the only real option for young kids--this is changing. I understand parents are concerned about safety. Yet, BTEs also pose a choking threat as they come in two component parts--the ear mold and aid (not to mention the tubing which could be pulled out by a determined toddler). The new ITE soft aid is the size of an ear mold. And for us, having the ITE as a complement to our daughters BTE's is an option. Of course this may not be right for everyone as they are expensive; yes they could be lost, on and on. Best,
Guest guest
Phew! I am glad you're not getting the hunting gear! :-) I hope you keep us up to date on this -- how well the aids work out for you. I must admit, it sounds so different from what we've all been told and have been doing. It sounds rather scary, but I suppose the world needs pioneers! (But are you sure you don't want to wait until she is a little older, can tell you how they sound and won't be tempted to swallow them??) All the best!
