Guest guest
, What did you think about the album suggestion? Dessi Re: A Taboo Topic...kinda Candy, Since there isn't one " method " for the PMR route of clubfoot treatment, there isn't a yes or no answer to your question. The type of post-surgery bracing used varies. Doctors may use no bracing, the FAB, AFO's, MAFO's, KAFO's, Wheaton brace etc. It depends on their training, their history, and I would imagine it is case dependant also. (obviously some surgeries would be more extensive than others, and some cases would be more stubborn than others) When my daughter was scheduled to have surgery, I asked about post-op bracing, and that particular doctor did not use braces typically. Of course he wouldn't give me a straight answer as to what percentage of his surgically corrected patients had to have additional surgeries to fix regression, so I don't know how successful his approach actually was. Just as a general observance of reading parents' posts for the last 3 years, I think that non-Ponseti doctors who do prescribe bracing tend to use AFO's. By the way, it's kind of a " misnomer " to call the P method " non surgical " , because technically the tenotomy (which many Ponseti kids must have) is surgery, albeit minimally invasive surgery...but we all know that the *big* surgeries, those of the reconstructive nature, are sometimes necessary, and definitely not taboo to talk about here.
