Guest guest
I am forty three. I started on Armour Thyroid Dec 29th or 30th. I had a period Jan 8-21, and it started again Jan 31, and I am still on it. Before all this started I was very regular, 29 days on the dot...7 days, and that was it. My periods have been very rough. Guest guest
Those heavy close together periods represent HYPO at it's finest, not the other way around. I suspect that it is coincidental that this is happening now. Instead of it being "out in the middle" with me, it was one of my FIRST hypo symptoms. I was found to be nonexistent on progesterone hormone, but had plenty of estrogen. This started after my tubiligation at age 28. The lack of progesterone was found at around age 34 or so. I had a hysterectomy at age 35. This was all too young for all of this, but it shows that I was sent into a premature premenopausal syndrome because of something. That something was not only the tubil (interruption of certain chemical signals that go on up and down the fallopian tubes to send hormone messengers), but the brassy beginnings of thyroid disease. How long has it been since you started having symptoms of thyroid disease? Not too long, or a very long time? Can't remember. This was my experience. I have Hashimoto's Disease. HYPERthyroid would cause either nonexistent or very scanty periods. RE: Re: Period will not stop - Help Me!!! I am forty three. I started on Armour Thyroid Dec 29th or 30th. Guest guest
Marie, I had this problem at about age 35. I went for 6 months that I had only 9 days that I was not flooding. My doctor finally said I had to have a hysterectomy. I was severly anemic at this point. Six months later I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and a thyroid tumor and had to have the brain tumor removed and half of my thyroid removed. They then decided that the problems I was having with my periods were caused from thyroid deficiency. Jeannie RE: Re: Period will not stop - Help Me!!! I am forty three. Guest guest
Hi - I've been Hypo for years, and have being treated for about 5 years. Well, let me rephrase that. Actually, I have only been properly treated for the last year. I was on Synthroid/Cytomel, until I made the switch to Armour end of December. For me, it has been a positive change, so far, except for the cycle problem, but it may or may not be related to the switch. I will give it a few more months, and if it does not straighten itself out, I will go see my ob-gyn. I was just in with some other issues, and casually mentioned it, but there was no conversation. Aside from my thyroid issues, I have had reoccurent uti's for over a year, and now, am being treated for Group B Strep(vaginal). I mention this because I wonder if there are other hypo's with this problem. I seem to have the uti's under control, but the other is still a problem, and I just got off of round 2 of 1500mg ampicillin, so that is 20 days of it, with about a week in between, and I think I am still symptomatic..it's hard to tell just yet, since my cycle masks my symptoms. That is the only good thing about these long cycles, is it does give me some relief. Guest guest
My oldest daughter, who also has hypo Hashi's, has been found to be Strep positive, vaginally, yet has no infection. I don't know whether they were talking about an antibody to it or not, so this didn't make sense to me. She told me this a few yrs ago, during her second pregnancy.
