Guest guest
Did you try spacing the meals any differently according to his active periods ? If so, any diff in ketones? If that doesn't work, she may have to take the plunge with you and alter 'something', as standing still hasn't got him the completel control you guys are obviously after. If he has gained in height with the weight, then you may have to increase to keep up with his growth, depends how closely matched the 2 percentiles have been over the past few weeks. If weight has been in excess of height growth recently however (allowing for the fact that kiddies usually gain weight first and then grow into it..) then the opp would probably apply. Do you know whether a ree dx test would be available there? Measures individual resting metabolism rate and gives a ballparkfigure for that (based on Co2 expelled) then percentages are added on to allow for growth, activity etc, keeping mind the keto percentages that have to be deducted off the total. Unsure though whether even if you can arrange one, what the age is that it can be done at. was 6 when he had his first, and it was brilliant for us, showed us bigtime how deficient he had actually been in calories for a loooong period. The scales just hadn't been giving us a true indication. Because he WAS so malnourished, and had gone into a catabolic state, and as a result he had become 'metabolically deranged', ie - fat/carb metabolism etc wasn't happening as it was supposed to be, he was storing fat and still breaking down muscle tissue, so the scales didn't reflect a weight loss. His height had stopped completely however, as happens when this malnourished, so the fact that 's height is still plodding along may mean this is not the case with him. Thought it was worth mentioning though, just in case. ----- Original Message ----- >The dietician doesn't want to > increase calories afraid he'll gain weight (already in > the 90th per centile) nor does she want to decrease > b/c he's currently on a low number (980 calories) and > is afraid it might interfere w/growth.
