Guest guest
Hi Everyone.... Went to my eye appt yesterday afternoon. I saw Dr. Chan and he was so good at explaining things to me. First, my eye's are FINE!!!!! WOOOOOO HOOOOOO ( ~l l~ <-- legs dancing for joy....) Just need reading glasses which I've had since I turned 40.... But he did say I have myositis in the muscles of my eyes and that's causing the muscles to become very sore and the vision to blur at times. He said he has other patients with the same problem as I do with there eyes and they have either PM or DM... (Another Woooo Hoooo, I'm not a weirdo!) I was so delighted to hear him say that, that I had to tell him that everything I've read states that Polymyositis never or rarely affects the eyes or face muscles. He smiled and said that a doctor must be able to keep an open mind. Not everything is written in stone and that if you always go by the medical journals you miss a great opportunity to learn more about these rare diseases. He said, medical journals are there to guide a doctor, to show a doctor what has already been researched and found to work for there patients. Nothing, as he stated, is written in stone and things change on a daily basis. He wants me to get checked for VERTIGO... I'll have to look that one up and figure out if I might have it....The twitching in my eyes is something he feels should be looked at by a NEURO eye doctor.. (I didn't even know there was such a thing) Dr. Chan said he went as far as he could go in his expertise and wants Dr. (top in his field) to take a look. He works with people that have eye diseases. Dr. is on loan to them from the Navy... and only works ONE night a week so I'm seeing him on Dec. 11th at 5pm. Now that's going to be a long night but I do better in the afternoons and early evenings then the mornings. I'll feed my critters before I leave and that will really help me out. While I was waiting to see Dr. Chan, my pulmonary doctor walked by and she sat down to talk with me. She wanted me to come by her office to let her know what his tests results were and to get my flu shot. Another WOOO HOOO, got my flu shot and talked with my pulmonary doctor. We set up another appt for my pulmonary testing. She's now only available ONCE a month for clinic appts but if I'm in trouble I can see her anytime. She only kept her most difficult patients.. (Hmm, I can take that two ways ya know) Then it was off to see my Rheumy because he also wanted to know what the eye doctor found. I actually left a message with the nurse because he had just gone in with a patient and another one was waiting and I didn't want to make him late. I just needed to find out if I should get back on my Enbrel or wait a little longer. Anyway, I asked the nurse to also find out about this VERTIGO thing... and what should I do. She'll call me today with an answer. It's so darn nice to have so many wonderful doctors to talk to. Even the nurses are great and go far beyond there duties to help... or at least I think they do. I only wish that those of you with LOUSY doctors could go to this clinic. I just can't say enough good things about them. I'm sure though, there are patients who don't like either the clinic or one or more of the doctors. They do get a lot of HOLLYWOOD type premadonna's walking around over there.... some of it can be pretty funny. Take care, Vicki ~ Vicki ~ Myositis Info Links
