Guest guest
Hello everyone! Our son Gavin has unilateral left clubfoot. Although the corrected foot seems to be doing wonderfully, I can't help constantly comparing it to the right (non-club) foot. Gavin's was a very severe club foot, and we were told from the outset to expect a shoe size difference in the long term. I'm not worried about that, or about his feet " matching " each other perfectly. One of my concerns about his having spent the first 8 weeks of his life with one leg in a cast was whether his immobilized leg would remain smaller. We were told not to worry -- that it would " catch up " later, if not completely, then at least enough not to be a problem. I guess I'm just looking for confirmation or reassurance from others who have been through this. After those first 8 weeks there was quite a noticeable difference between Gavin's two legs. (He is also a very large baby, and grew a LOT during that period.) He is now a month into the boot and bar, and the smaller leg does seem to be " catching up " , but it is still smaller. Do those of you with older children still notice a difference in leg lengths? Thanks for your time...
