Guest guest
Another good one from Good Housekeeping! Sharon Diet myth: Never snack between meals. Reality: Skipping snacks when you're really hungry can be as destructive as skipping meals, because snacks prevent you from overeating at the next meal. A snack can be an 8-ounce glass of skim milk and a graham cracker rectangle or a piece of fruit. Here, tips on how to munch between meals: Not sure if you should eat something? Take the hour test: If your next meal is an hour or more away -- and you're ravenous -- it's time for a small treat. Keep in mind, however, you don't need a snack between every meal. To avoid eating high-fat snacks at work, stash a zipper-lock bag of almonds or a banana in your desk. If you drive a lot, slip a mini-cooler in the backseat and stock it with yogurt, skim milk and baby carrots.
