Guest guest
As Sue W. had suggested, water aerobics would be great for you. If you have a YMCA in your area, you might want to check with them to find out about what types of water aerobics they offer. The local hospital might also be a good resource. In Grand Forks, the local hospital has a water class called " Rusty Hinges " that is offered at their physical therapy location. If you are a member of the YMCA, then you can take the class for free. I have rheumatoid arthritis in my hands (primarily my index fingers, but actually any joints in my body are affected at some point)... so I guess I am lucky that most exercises are " do-able " for me. The only thing that I have found so far that isn't good for me is to hold the retractable leashes for my dogs when we go for walks. (Pronounced w-a-l-k in my house unless I am willing to actually GO for one at the time of saying the word.) Also, another supplement to check into is flax seed or flax oil. A former co-worker of mine also had RA and had told me about how good this is. If you buy the seed, it can be stored in the freezer until you take out a tablespoon to grind up. The ground seed can be added to cereal or whatever. You can also buy flax oil capsules. The nutritional info from the bottle that I have for the 1000 mg capsules is 10 calories per capsule and 1 gram of fat, with the dosage recommendation being 1 capsule up to 2 times a day with food. I bought my bottle at Kmart last week. They had a special of buy one get one free... so I bought a bottle of multivitamins for $7.99 and got the flax oil capsules ($7.99) for free - well, it could be the other way around. LOL If you buy the straight flax oil in a bottle, the best stuff should be purchased from a refrigerated case at a health food store and then also stored in the refrigerator. Since I just started taking this supplement, I can't tell if it is " doing anything " just yet, but as long as I am only taking one capsule right now daily, I don't think it will hurt anything. The capsules that I bought also contain the Omega-3 oil (is it oil or a fatty acid?) as well... and I've read that is good for the body. > RE: /Suggestion for knees and ankles > > > There seems to be damage to my feet and ankles > > > from, I think, having been so > > > large for so very long in my life.
