Guest guest
I use chiropractors, and for me, that pain goes away after having my back at that point, popped. It had got to the point with me once, that it hurt to breathe. Changing thyroid levels can cause bone and muscle aches. Hypo too. Seems if it was those things, though, you'd have pain in more than one place. jane > > Sorry I don't contribute more, but I'm not an expert in any of this. Guest guest
The gallbladder isn't really that far away and the pain can radiate through to the back. I know many gastric bypass people end up with gallbladder problems. The range of symptoms and where the pain presents can be somewhat different from person to person. I was lucky in that mine was not horrible and I had it show positive on an ultrasound and removed before the serious attacks began. I've known others who had bad gallbladder attacks and the ultrasound came up negative, only to eventually have it removed anyway. Not fun. Guest guest
Donna, Well to me it sounds kinda like when i started having my back pains from my arthritis it is just a dull nagging ache always present just sometimes worse and pressure on the area helps. I would mention it to the Doc for sure it can be very painful at times I know.try letting hot water in the shower run on your back for a while and take tylenol or ask your doc for pain pills arthritis is an autoimmne disease I am hashimoto thyroditis at this point. So yes it can be part of the thyroid. But arthritis can also be a hereditary thing so might want to look back into your family if any of your aunts , uncles or mom and dad grandma grandpa had arthritis. Do you get any numbness or tingling like your fingers or hand fall asleep for no reason if so then definetly contact the doc as soon as possible this could be raynaud disease or MD. or sorgjens ( spelling) . I get the tingling my hand falls asleep on my left side alot for no reason and yes my pain gets worse the more I do. that is a good sign of arthritis. Arthritis can also be contracted or start from infection this is called infectious arthritis and can be taken care of if you use an antibiotic. That is how I got mine only it was not caught before it spred to muscles and bones. I hope I have been of some help. But till you see the doc or talk to him I would take tylenol arthritis and use a heating pad on you back and try not to lift heavy. TinaDonna wrote: Thanks Tina. Guest guest
Hi , I am new as of today. I have had thyroid problems for over 6 years now and still do not know much about it. Anyhow have you looked up Fibromyalgia? I was just diagnosed with this and it started with pain between my shoulder blades and spread to my neck and shoulder. You might try Googling it and look at the chart and see if you pain is where the diagram shows. And take the little test some of the sites have, that is how I knew I had it months before the doctors finally got around to admitting that I did. I don't know if my advise will help but I am told that lots of people with thyroid problems have this. Guest guest
My Dad had his gallbladder removed a little over a month ago. He had terrible stomach pains. His gallbladder had already gangrene by the time it was removed. I tend to end up having the same things my parents have had. My sister called me right away and told me to go ahead and book my gallbladder surgery when she heard about Dad. LOL. Thanks for the heads up on this being a possibility. I have no other symptoms at this time. Donna J. Re: Pain Across upper back The gallbladder isn't really that far away and the pain can radiate through to the back. Not fun. Sandy No virus found in this outgoing message. Guest guest
My Internal Med doc told me to stay away from perchlorates (I believe) b/c they caused problems with gall bladders & to stay away from allergens and have a bland diet until my liver could reroute function. I asked him how long I would have diarrhea problems after my surgery and he said about 18 months... I thought he was joking. He really wasn't. Now I'm back to normal but between.. oh man that sucked. Guest guest
Donna, It's possible that if your thyroid is enlarged the muscles around it are pressed and pulling your other muscles/nerves causing cramping... it's all related after all. Massaging your thyroid gland might help. When mine was really out of whack, it helped mine to release hormone I think. My thyroid would hurt, I would rub it for a while with the tips of my fingers in circular motions (like temple rubbing during headaches) and it would stop. Good luck, Re: Re: Pain Across upper back Hi Donna , My name is Tina and I have arthritis in my spine where exactly is your pain can you discribe what it feels like. and tell me where exactly it is hurting?
I am also being tested for Muscular Dystrophy. I have had spinal bifida occults since birth and lots of backaches. Guest guest
Hi Rita, I had fibro & cfs for a few years. I found that mine was caused by allergens to certain things. If I ingested things my muscles would hurt (kind of like how they feel when you're in the middle of a stretch all the time) and they would feel weak, my grip would be gone and my skin would burn. When I removed my allergens, it stopped. If you have allergens, you might want to keep note of it. See if your symptoms occur when you eat certain things or what not. I have found a couple of articles that you and others might find interesting. http://www.gsdl.com/home/assessments/finddisease/fibromyalgia/allergies.html http://www.fmaware.org/fmOnlineNewsletter/2005/vol5_no4/article_food.htm http://www.321recipes.com/fibromyalgia.html http://www.betterhealthusa.com/public/222.cfm I changed my diet and 2 years later I am still pain free. Occasionally if I eat something that I'm allergic to and have really bad reactions, I will feel some of the same symptoms I had before. If I do, I get plenty of rest, take naproxen (rarely now... and I used to need 550 x 3 daily or more) and I drink bottle of water after bottle of water. The reason why this works is because when you have allergies your body is constantly sending messages to your adrenal glands to send out hormones to block the allergic reaction (this is why inhalers, benedryl creams, etc. all have some form of cortisol). Over time if you are subject to the allergy long enough, your body will come into the cfs/fibro state. If you look at the relationship to cfs/fibro symptoms and really bad allergic reactions, they are absolutely the same. Doctors can't figure out what causes cfs/fibro and I believe this is why. It isn't something that is easily charted except by the feelings. As a result of always having your adrenals fighting reactions, it doesn't allow it to go anywhere else it is needed, then when there isn't enough to go around, you start developing sensitive skin, breathing problems, lack of energy (adrenals control this), sore muscles, painful tendons, body swelling, etc. When I was a kid around 13 I had allergy tests, determined I was allergic to mold, mildew, yeast, milk, yogurt, many many other things... I kept eating them and being around them. When I was 19 my body couldn't handle it anymore and it crashed. I started developing cfs after my gall bladder surgery before I was diagnosed as hypo, then when my thyroid hormones got screwed up, my adrenals followed (already stressed remember). Then I noticed if I ate organic foods or certain types of food combinations, I had a few hours of relief... then I ate more and more, and felt more relief, I had chemical allergies, detergent allergies, and you know the more your fibro/cfs goes untreated the more allergies you have. You know the great thing... if you can mellow your hormones and get them adjusted, your adrenals will actually prevent you from having certain allergies again, or having such bad reactions. I knew I was on to something when my husband (healthy as an ox.. and as stubborn to) started having THE SAME reactions I did. I would ask him how he felt, if he felt certain ways and the answer was always yes. Several people have also done this because of what I told them. Now they're all pain free to. I hope this information helps everyone. Many people are resistant to change and to proper health because the idea of being healthy is scary, but I'm telling you, I would bet almost everything I have, that THIS is the cure for fibro/cfs patients. I know that, because I was one. good luck, Pain Across upper back Sorry I don't contribute more, but I'm not an expert in any of this. Actually, I'm Hyperthyroid, Graves Disease but now I have gone Hypo. I am wondering if pain across my upper back from shoulder blade to shoulder blade is a Hypo thing. I just ache in that area. I have other Hypo symptoms but this aching between shoulder blades is really most uncomfortable. Thanks for any help Donna J.
