Hello,

I am new to the group. I am considering buying the yoghurt maker

however before I do, I wanted to ask anyone, what their thoughts

are on the machine. Does it come out right? How does it taste?

Lastly, can you add fruits to it so that it is not plain yoghurt.

My son does not like plain yoghurt. I know the SCD book does not

recommend jar fruits but can I cheat a little? My son is also new

to the diet. He is currently GFCF. I thought doing the yogurt will

be our first step since he likes yoghurt, however with fruit.

Marie,

Fruits in jars may contain undisclosed ingredients including sugar. Please don't

use them. You can add home cooked peeled and seeded fruits to your finished

yogurt.

The thing about SCD is that it does require strict compliance and small

infractions continue to allow bacterial overgrowth.

Do give the diet a chance for at least a month. I use a second oven to make

yogurt and just substitute a 60 watt light bulb for the oven light.

Before investing in a yogurt maker wait until following the diet about a month

to introduce yogurt and see if it is well tolerated.

On Pecanbread in the link boxes There are suggestions for other devices to use

for yogurt until you decide to buy a yogurt maker.
