Guest guest
Did any of you have a problem getting a letter of medical necessity from your doctor. I'm still planning on waiting a few weeks, but I want to get the ball rolling in case she needs a band. I think her head looks bad today, I don't know if my eyes are playing tricks or what, but I am sick to my stomach. How do I get my dr. to agree to this? I'm going to post the pictures today. I'll let you know when they get up. Thanks, Debbie and Brielle (4 1/2 mos tort/plagio)
Guest guest
No I didn't have a problem. The only thing I found was that the standard letter didn't cut it. It really helps to have one with specifics. There are some examples in the insurance section. Just ask your dr and let them know you have sample letters. Explain you are just trying to get everything in order for when you are ready to re-evaluate. Also let him know you;ve been warned that the more specific and personalized the medical necessity letter the better the chances for approval. mom to na DOC Grad www.thefilyaws.comDeborah B <aguinesslover@...> wrote: Did any of you have a problem getting a letter of medical necessity from your doctor. Guest guest
I didn't have a problem getting a letter of medical neccessity at all. We got our from a craniofacial specialist. He was great and wrote a wonderful letter. Just make sure that it indicates that you attempted aggressive repositioning and it was determined that a cranial band is needed because the repositioning was unsuccesful. (that is, if you don't end up having good results with the repo). Our Insurance paid for 's Band, so it's important that the letter is good and convincing for the Ins. Good luck! Guest guest
Thanks . I think its going to be a problem, since they think brielle is mild. I am feeling more and more like I want to band her. I am so afraid to do the wrong thing. I was looking at pictures of when she was born today and she was so perfect and I feel like I did this to her, I am so sick, I feel like I am going to have nervous breakdown. My husband does not want to band her, but I told him, I do the stretches, take her to PT, worry all day that she is on the left side, so I think he will come around. Thanks for hearing me vent. Guest guest
I'm so sorry that you're feeling so sick - but know that you're not alone. It's such a hard decision - I agree with you - you do the stretches all day, do PT, and worry all day about them being on the proper side - which is hard when you're also trying to do other household things and they're so much happier on the " wrong " side that's I feel so horrible trying to force my son the the left - although I'm dreading getting the helmet for my son, there is some comfort in knowing that now is flatness will be fixed and although I still have to do the exercises, I feel a little bit better. I don't know if this is any comfort - but the fact that you're so in tune to Brielle's needs and noticed this and so obviously care about her, I'm sure you'll make the right decision. > > > > Did any of you have a problem getting a letter of medical necessity > > from your doctor. Guest guest
Debbie, Who did you get the prescription from? You could just tell whatever doctor it is that it is required by your insurance to have the letter from the doctor who wrote the script. Even if this doc doesn't agree w/your (possible) decision to band, they did write you the script. I would definitely offer sample letters from our files section to make it easier. I'm sorry you think Brielle's head looks bad today, but I'm glad to see you're getting things in order just in case. This should give you good piece of mind to know that you're doing all you can and not wasting any time. These next couple weeks of repo should give you a very clear answer as to whether or not it's working. Guest guest
Hi . The only script that I have gotten so far was for PT from the first neurosurgeon who felt that Brielle was so mild and for me not to worry at all. So, I know that he is not going to support this band thing. After a few weeks we are going back to the cranial facial specialist. I'm sure she will write me a note for it if I talk to her enough about my concerns. I think with my insurance which is Oxford, the primary care physician which is her pediatrician has to write the letter. I may make an appt. this week to talk to her about it. You know, her head is rounding out, but her ears are still assymetrical, do they get better? Will repo help them. I remember the woman at cranial tech saying that the ears are hard to correct? IS this true? Have you all had success with your childrens ears? Thanks, Debbie and bRielle > > Did any of you have a problem getting a letter of medical necessity > > from your doctor. Guest guest
Hi Debbie, THe ears are the last thing to see correction generally. As you reshape the head and it moves back into place the ears should follow. It takes time and you don't get the dramatic results like you do w/change in the head. Hannah's ears were really off (didn't get measurements) and she saw very good correction. They're still slightly off. If you look at her Cranial Tech before and after pics on her website you can see the difference. If you do make that appt to talk to the doctor I'd bring some copies of sample letters to give her some ideas. It will take the pressure off her if she has never done one before and hopefully insure you the best possible language and content for the insurance. , mom to Hannah, DOCgrad Cape Cod, Ma http://hannahsnoggin.typepad.com > > > Did any of you have a problem getting a letter of medical > necessity > > > from your doctor. Guest guest
Thank you , you are always so helpful. We can see the progress in the back of her head rounding out. The ears is what I am mostly concerned about and will probably make me band her I think I can wait the next 5 weeks, if the ball is rolling to get a band if eventually needed. I'm curious to see if there is progress regarding assymetry in the next few weeks.
