Guest guest
BlankHello - I'm into my 2nd year of hypo preparing for I131 in March. Have a couple questions about allowable items during LID. Some of the recipes in the LID cookbook call for vegetable oil. Is 100% vegetable oil allowed with no sodium content or should we substitute with Canola Oil or Olive Oil? Also, are sugar substitutes allowed i.e. Sweet n' Low? And when buying meat when it states fresh. Does this mean only meats fresh from the butcher or can we use meats that state 100% naturally processed? The LID cookbook is great I have tried several recipes and have loved them. Betty's bread is wonderful. Today I am going to whip up some wacky cake. I wanted to try the Hershey candy recipe but unable to find the allowed shortening in my area. Are there any suggestions for other shortenings that may qualify? ** After reading posts this AM wanted to comment that I too have noticed the effects of hypo earlier and a little harder to go through. Especially the insomnia - weird dreams! I am going to try the Tylenol PM or the Melatonin for sure.** ****And Congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs! Hope you have a wonderful and happy life together! ** Judy - In Snowy PA tt 1/25/01, 50mci RAI 2/16/01, 150mci RAI 3/4/02 hypo/LID for scan on 3/13/
