Guest guest
You go, Girl!!! Sometimes it's hard - when the folks we want to trust are telling us to go against our instincts. But not all surgeons are up-to-date on all procedures....it's probably impossible, given the advances of medicine. My own family practitioner had questioned me on going to Baltimore...as I started to justify my decision, he burst out laughing and said " OK, OK - you know way more about this than I do!! Just tell me how I can help you... " (Have I mentioned that I adore this guy??) Best wishes! Guest guest
Go to Belgium and continue your life! You will be fine. As a radiologist I can assure you all that Drs. are people too! Some will listen to their patients, others do not. Stick with the ones who do! Remember,MOM hip resurfacing is important to us but is one of millions of new things which are evolving in medicine. Just because a Dr. has not heard of it doesn't mean that he/she is not good. But, if the DR. IS NOT WILLING TO LISTEN AND DO A LITTLE RESEARCH, FIND ANOTHER ONE. I have been in practice keeping up with the latest in radiology for the last 30 years. I had never seen a M-O-M resurfacing in my practice until I needed one and started researching it. Be patient (maybe that's what it really means). Dr. de Smet (and all the others who are actively doing M-O-M resurfacing) will do a good job because they care and have gone to the trouble of learning something new. Many of the other OS' are actively involved with other research as well. There are other joints you know! And the term ORTHOPEDIC means " Straight Child " because of concerns with scoliosis and other problems. Guest guest
Great! Ask Dr. De smet for a copy of his paper to (Copy) and show to the DR.s you see. This will be useful to a radiologist or OS who gives you followup care so that they know what it is supposed to look like on X-ray. You would be astonished at the hundreds of different devices that I have seen placed in various joints. Best to you! in NC --- In surfacehippy , " davidrad01 <msbroder@t...> " > > and then to read my post from all of you was incredible..I am ok > with > > this and already have a referral of a doctor in San Diego fo > > aftercare.. ..Thank you a zillion times. > > I hope I can be this much support to a sew hippy at some point that > > is anguished over this desperate decision, It has totally becom e a > > simple process with all your help > > Sagliettigirl > > still going to Belgium
