Guest guest
Hi All, We have had a fantastic first week in the Doc Band, if you don't count mommy's cold. He adjusted really well from the start. We had a few issues w/ red marks and such, but all in all, not too bad.He spent one day rolling his head back and fourth, and it worried me at first, until we realized he had just figured out that he could do that now with the band on. He then put that to work for him and began trying to do everything he couldn't before. He has amazed us with rolling not only from tummy to back, but from Back to Tummy for the first time on his own. He found his toes finally and tries to eat them. I cannot get over the increase in movement in this baby just from having a round head to use. I never realized how restricted he was from having the flat spot. When I saw the determination in him, I began intensive therapy and we have worked really hard this week. He is improving with all areas except the backwards tilt and the eating. But I can say, the therapy seems to be more effective with the band. I do take it off for the big stretches, but he has more issues than just his neck so it is on for alot of it. Maybe I won't need the EI therapist by Monday,LOL. We had our first appointment since his fitting yesterday. The OT said that she expected to just check his skin condition, but she had to make an adjustment already because of his growth. She did do a small release for the red mark that is always there and it is now just a pink spot that fades quickly. He may have a spot there throughout treatment, but it is where the band grabs the head so not much more can be done there. I am fine w/ that. He also needed a release in the forehead on the growth side, YIPPEE! I am going to post a picture so you can look at the difference already. I was totally amazed, he changed enough to see even without comparing him to his headsicle,( it hasn't come in yet.). This week has been just as exciting to us as the day he was born, it's like getting a whole new baby. Today we go to the ophthamologist to get his vision checked and rule out ptsosis (droopy eyelids). So I'll let you know what happens. For anyone sitting on the fence with a young one, PLEASE DON'T WAIT, YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW THAT FLAT SPOT EFFECTS THIER DEVELOPEMENT!

Guest guest
I'm glad you're so happy w/your decision Carol and of course that Dominck is doing so well. Hannah also rolled for the first time both ways right after getting her helmet (the day after actually!). I'm sure it is much easier to roll on a rounded surface! , mom to Hannah, DOCgrad Cape Cod, Ma http://hannahsnoggin.typepad.com > > Hi All, > We have had a fantastic first week in the Doc Band, if you don't > count mommy's cold.
