Guest guest
I am also from RBF BB and it took me a few days to find this site. I wish I would have known about it sooner. It's always good to have lots of info with these conditions. Anyway, thanks for welcoming us RBF people.

Guest guest
-- Welcome to the group! We are very glad to have you as a member. I think you will find that the vast majority of Feisty group members will be supportive and understanding -- and yes, this is a group where you can really let down your hair and be yourself. We may have some members -- I know we have in the past -- who, like you, had their difficulties compounded by an automobile accident. What totally rotten luck. I hope and trust that you are o.k. after all the trauma and the surgery you've been through. It is unfortunate that you have had to put up with the eye-rolling, " suck it up " mentality. In my experience, it is best to get as far away from such people as possible. They clearly have serious problems of their own. Often they are deeply afraid of the possibility that something equally bad could conceivably happen to them, and the only means they have of dealing with this is to somehow discount you. Unless they are members of your family to whom you are committed through a long, loving relationship which is likely to weather a negative and discouraging period, my feeling is that they should promptly be given their walking papers! Your own suffering has undoubtedly given you a depth of empathy and compassion which these people somehow just do not have. Again, a warm welcome to the Feisty Forum! Best, > > I have been " lurking " for awhile but just wanted to say how much it means to me to be able to read your stories. I had a fusion to correct an S curve, with Harrington rod placed when I was 15. Four months later ,I was in a bad car accident that resulted in the rod being knocked loose and removed at age 17. I was told before my initial surgery that if I didn't have it then I would not be able to walk later in life. I don't know if that is entirely true but it has not been a cakewalk either. I have had regular pain and back spasms since my early 20's. I cannot stand on hard surfaces for more than an hour or wear heels. I feel like this group is the only place I can express my frustration and vent without eye rolls or " suck it ups " . I have learned not to say a lot and live with it but what a blessing to have this group. I read what other people say and think " yes, that's what I have too " and don't feel to isolated. Keep it up! in Georgia >
