Guest guest
I have had gum disease for many years, but could generally control the condition with regular cleanings. Now that I'm on coumadin, my gum bleeding has drastically increased, often spontaneously (with no brushing or flossing).I have not had a cleaning in months and my neurologist insists if I do go not to go off coumadin for the visit as some suggest. I bleed copiously when undergoing treatment. What to do? ----------------------- Headers -------------------------------- Return-Path: <>
Guest guest
I too have gum disease, am on coumadin and undergo vigorous cleaning at the periodontist every two months. However my cardiologist and dentist have agreed that I should go off the coumadin 3 days before the cleaning. Depending on the amount of bleeding sometimes I restart my coumadin that night or wait a couple of days. What do your cardio and dentist have to say about what you should do? Have you had a stroke in the past? Brenta Gums disease and coumadin I have had gum disease for many years, but could generally control the condition with regular cleanings. Guest guest
Me too , more bleeding when sleeping. I have read that there is a correlation between bleeding gums and heart disease. I am shortly going to visit my dentist for a cleaning, which usually includes scaling and lots of bleeding. Now that I'm on coumadin, I don't know what to expect. And my doctor told me not to suspend coumadin before dentistry. I'll let you know if I learn something new.
