You will be told here, newbie , that hypothyroid is not a diagnosis, it's a symptom of something wrong with a thyroid. You want to find out what is making your thyroid hypo. Inflammed thyroid - then you have Hashimoto's or Graves ? Something everyone is told on these support group lists - get copies of every test and procedure done on you, blood work too. Do you know what your thyroid related numbers are in your blood work ? Are you getting FreeT's checked ? Tg and TgAb ? Do you know what the target is for you TSH? You'll get tons of info from others, this is just a start.jane

Thyroid tissure puts out a signal found in a blood test, called Tg.

If all the thyroid has been removed and killed off by rai,

supposedly there is no thyroid to put out the tg signal. So, after

a reading post rai, tg should be lower than the lab can detect.

From then on, if it shows up, we know its' cancer that's come back

and a hunting we go to find where it is. Thyroid cancer puts out

the same signal as the thyroid - tg. Even if it's in the bones or

lungs, it still puts out the tg and is treated by surgery is

possible or needed, and rai again.

TgAb tests the antibody level connected to the thyroid. Antibody

level means different things, depending on what your disease is.
