Nick,

I was on Armour for 2 years. Just recently discovered Rt3 problem. Ft3/Rt3 ratio is about 10 with 20+ being the desired number. Just switched from Armour to slow release t3 this week. Had been on 60mg Armour at 5:00am, 30mg Armour at 11:00 am, and then 60 mg Armour at 5:00.. Three days ago switched to 88mcg SRT3 at 5:00 am and 88mcg SRT3 at 5:00 pm. First day or so felt fine.

Last night, I was lying in bed and could feel my pulse going through the roof. It was 100-105 bpm. It lasted for a couple of hours. Pretty scary. This morning when I woke up, my pulse was in the high 60's. Before starting thyroid meds I usually had a resting heart rate of 60 or less and had low blood pressure and low body temp. Since new Armour, have had increased heart rate and pulse, but continued low body tem. Last week when I went to the doc (before starting SRT3), my bp was way up and my body temp stll low at 96.5. In past few days, body temp. seems to have risen to about 98.5 or so.

I am concerned about that high bpm and the tightness I feel in my chest today. Trying to figure out if I am either over-medicated or just need to give it a week or so for my body to adjust to the SRT3. Trying to decide whether or not to take the 5:00 dose today or skip it to help bring my heart rate down. Currently resting heart rate is 80-85 and tightness in chest. What are your thoughts re: dosage and heart issues.

Thanks so much for any help.

Just keep an eye on your pulse after the 10 week mark and beprepared to drop dose by half overnight. For me I needed 12 grains of old Armour to feel well. When I went toT3 only

I ramped up and ended up on 225-250 a day and felt good onthat. One day I woke up with a fast pulse and a temperature, took 50that day and build up to 125 over a week or so and feel the best Ihave for 35 years now, having been on Armour for the previous 10years.I've increased slightly for the winter and expect to drop again in thesummer.Have patience, it works.Nick.

Too much too soon, take it slowly as per the link in the other reply

Have a look through all the site in my sig, it will give you a good

Nick,

I am taking slow released t3 -- what is the difference in slow release and breaking up straight t3 doses throughout the day? Which is the preferred method of treatment and why?

Nick,

I just read through the dosing website link you gave me. This looks like it is a conversion chart for t3 tablets -- is this equivalent dosing for slow release compounded capsules? Since they are capsules I cannot cut them. Based on the chart, you would think I would have gone into cardiac arrest by having 166mcg slow release t3 over the past few days instead of the 25mcg as recommended by the chart. Just wanted to make sure we are talking apples to apples.

Thanks again for your time and help.

Fortunately you don't get all the T3 that's in the slow release in

your blood stream, there are absorbtion issues

It does seem that overdoses on T3 do self limit in some way (probably

be depleting cortisol and then not being able to be utilised), I don't

recommend trying it though.

The dosing for slow release and standard starts off the same, but you

may need 20% to 50% more slow release than you would standard. That

still makes your slow release dose at least 4 times what it should

have been.

We recommend standard release T3 and spread it through the day, it's

easier to adjust dose and you get the benefit of all of it that way,

not to mention it being cheaper.

You don't get all the T3 in the SR, some of it passes through without

being absorbed

The standard T3 is easier to adjust dose on and you will need weekly

dose changes for several months as you increase the T3 to compensate

for your own T4 levels dropping and then for RT3 clearing.
