Guest guest
> Is this once a day? > > Does anyone else take 50 mg/day? --------------------- As a small background, I had some chest pains last week and the EP sent me for a cardio gram which came back OK as far as I know, they didn't say I had coronary disease (I am 39) . Now they have me on 150 Metoprolol, 200 Flecanide and 81 aspirin. A personal totally non medical opinion is I think my heart goes too slow and that's why it aches or whatever. The pain was really bad early in the week and frankly I'd rather have the Afib which I was having everyday, at least it didn't hurt. I also had some ankle swelling. Lorrie, This wouldn't explain teh ankle swelling, but have you have a gi doc or an ear nose throat doc check for esophageal irritation due to acid refux or h pylori bacteria. Those things can cause pretty impressive chest pain, easily mistaken for heart stuff. Or if the metoprolol was recently increased the chest pain may be transient. (I'm sorry, I forget exactly which situation you;'re in.) I always think of the initial chest pain from beta blockers as teh heart struggling to beat as fast as it wants to and teh beta blocker saying no,no :-) hard to type with cat snoozing on keybord

I was a little disappointed in my EP that he just heard " chest pain " without listening to the rest of my sentence, but I also understand where he is/was coming from and why he sent me for the cath. The good news is with what I'm on now I don't have symptoms but I wonder when it's all going to catch up with me. I have contacted the company that makes Flecainide to see about getting it since I've lost my job. My cat walks across the keyboard if I'm not watching. :-) Thank you kindly, Lorrie

You may also need a stress test, and the the ankle swelling should definitely be looked into by the cardiologist. Have you gained any weight -- even a two or three pound gain could be indicative of edema. I am certainly not a physician, or a nurse, but have had many years of experience with a-fib, DCM and CHF (dilated cardiomyopathy) (congestive heart failure) and have an ICD implanted. Please talk to your doctor. Lee www.heart-help.net
