Guest guest Posted January 19, 2006 Report Share Posted January 19, 2006 I wish they would be thorough in explaining that TSH alone is not the whole answer and that TSH after replacement hormone is started means even less... As a person with no thyroid I don't want my pituitary saying anything to a non existent thyroid gland to produce more hormone... there is nothing to produce the hormone, I am totally dependant on what I take... common sense says that the TSH should be approaching zero indicating that my body does not feel the need to produce more hormone. A person that has a low TSH and high Frees..... and symptoms of hyper.. then the person is hyper....but a person with a low TSH and low Frees, and symptoms of hypo are hypo regardless of what the TSH says. I know there is no hard and fast guideline for this.. there can't be using just numbers... but if they would just realize that they numbers can be used as a guide, along with symptoms.. then they will start doing a LOT more people a LOT more good. ....end of rant... I did find the cure for a sluggish bowel today. My husband was laid off again and that loosened things up right away. He was with his first employer for 32 years and laid off a year ago. He was able to get new employment right away and then recently changed to a new company to learn a new operating system (he is a software engineer). The management for the company should never have authorized his hire because they laid 30% of their engineers off this a.m. So, here we with without a job that we thought we had and wondering where in the world this is going to lead us. Needless to say, all this has contributed to my stress level and thus probably why my TSH has been rising this past year.
