Guest guest
Our neuro did published study quite a few years ago, they tested aspartame with abscence seizures. It did cause an increase in seizures on EEG. But they ended study by saying that amounts were so much higher than any kids would drink during the day. They also said testing should be done with other seizure types. Apparently none has been done. Neuro nurse told me that Nutrasweet people wanted to meet with neuro to discuss study but he refused. It has surely been shown over and over on this list that it causes seizures in some kids. What amazes me is that our centre has never suggested eliminating aspartame as fine-tuning measure on keto diet. They recommend diet coke , 's mom ketomum68 wrote: > Read a message a while back asking why aspartame was in Ketocal. > Went away to find out and have now got the answer: > > In the US Ketocal has aspartame in it because there is and I > quote 'no medical evidence to show that aspartame causes seizures'. > > The reason it has sweetner in it at all is because it is for tube AND > sip feed and if it didn't have some flavour it would be horrible > (I've tried the non-flavoured variety and I can safely say it tastes > revolting! - the vanilla is not bad though.) > > Ok, before I get loads of you screaming at me about this aspartame > thing, I, like many of us, remember reading somewhere (still trying > to trawl the depths of all the paperwork I have collected over the > years - mental note, must do more filing!)that there IS a > connection.
