Guest guest
Hi, another question for you all. On Thursday, Annika and I will be interviewed by the local paper in regards to her cochlear implant. Just wondering if anyone else on the list have done this and what do you think it is important to tell them, is there something that you wished you would have said that didn't, and anything else down that line. Understand that CI's are not common out here in rural MN so for some people when they read this story it will be the first time they have heard of it. If not this is definitely the first time they have had first hand information on them. I really thought it was important that we get our story out there. Mom of 4 Marcus 13 12 Jon 10 Annika 2 Bilateral Clarion implant 3/1/04 Hookup 3/25/04 --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Guest guest
Hi , I am a journalist and a mom, but I'm writing mostly as a mom. My daughter i= s not yet a candidate for a CI, but I the one thing I think people don't unde= rstand about CIs (and sometimes hearing aids), is that they are not a substitute f= or hearing. As you know, even with a CI, your daughter will need substantial therapy in order to be able to use it — and then it may not work as well as= you hope. My husband, a reporter, recently wrote a story on CIs for our paper in Oreg= on. The link is below. http://www.registerguard.com/news/2004/05/16/a1.cochlear.0516.html Janet Mom to Jack, 10 (hearing) and Sofie, 5 (severe loss, HAs) > Hi, another question for you all.
