Maybe he turns them off. That's what our Ian does. If they're still in his

ears and the windows are down, you can safely bet that the aides have been

turned off and he is just enjoying the feel of the air on his face.

It's hard to say for sure. Neal has certain sounds that he can't stand with

his CI on... a blow dryer, vaccuum cleaner, etc. Also, if he has his implant

off at the beach, he will not put it back on until we are well away from the

ocean. He hates going from being deaf to hearing the sound of the ocean.
