Guest guest
Hi, Bruce,.... Welcome.... I'd say your dose is still too low.... What body building supplement were you on? Did it contain T2? Did it say anything about being a metabolism booster, muscle builder? How long before labs did you take your last Armour dose? Are you swallowing the Armour or taking it sublingually? Are you avoiding high fructose corn syrup (it's in a lot of foods, most common source is soda pop)? Are you avoiding soy products? Do you know about goitrogens, foods that inhibit absorption of thyroid hormone? What is your diagnosis? Why are you hypo? Next round of tests, save some bucks... the ones that you need are: TSH Free T3 Free T4 Ferritin B-12 .... wouldn't hurt to run antibodies again.. The other tests T4, T3 uptake... that's all rubbish... sucking up money and wasting time. Cortisol came up.. that's good. Are they only testing the morning level? Guest guest
Hi , First of all thanks for your help. I value it. The supplement (Ultra HOT) is now banned and pulled because it was steroidal. It caused my Free Testosterone to go from 300 to about 900 (as well as messing up my liver enzymes). Pretty powerful, and it did it supposedly thru tricking HPTA negative feedback loop. The ingredients were: Agaricus bisporus extract 6, 17-dioxo-ethiocholen-3-ol 3, 17-dioxo-etiochol-1,4,6-triene 7-beta-Hydroxy-DHEA Camellia Sinensis The bottle says: Natural Testosterone Support Modulates Fat Causing Estrogens Decreases Water Retentio Supports Libido & Performance I have been on Armour since Feb, 2005. I was swallowing Armour until a few days ago, now I am letting it dissolve sublingually. I do avoid all sugary foods except for one or two meals per week, and only drink diet pop (when I drink it). Soy products. A couple of months ago I started to eat Stallones Protein Pudding. About one per day. It has Milk protein and Soy protein in it. I have no idea how much. That is pretty much the only soy I eat. I am just learning about goitrogens. I also supplement with liquid dietary iodine per my N.D. He did a swab test of iodine on my arm and my body absorbed it in a just a few hour indicating I was deficient and it is critical in the manufacture of T4 he told me. He diagnosed me as Hypo, and I have no particular idea as to why I am hypo unless it was post tramatic stress from a few years ago. The last time I was in to see him he said he would like to see my T4 levels a bit higher, but to date he has not done anything about it. Ferritin. I tested this back 4/23/05: Ferritin, Serum 92 22-322 ng/mL 001347 Iron Bind.Cap.(TIBC) 364 250-450 ug/dL Iron Saturation 33 15-55 % Iron, Serum 120 40-155 ug/dL UIBC 244 150-375 ug/dL Most of the labs I get are part of an Anti Aging package which is cheaper. All my labs including Cortisol are taken in the morning between 9-10. Thanks again for your help! Bruce Re: Need advise on my labs Hi, Bruce,.... Welcome.... I'd say your dose is still too low.... I take oneupon waking, and the other at about 5:00. My TSH did take some dipson the May and November labs. I was taking a bodybuilding supplementfrom May to Nov that I think increased my thryoid activity resultingin the lower TSH in those months(?). Your TSH came down after adding Armour, then started creeping up... then dropped..... was there a dosage change between the December and January labs? The Free T4, the two times he tested as low.. mid range for that range would be 1.14.. you're a bit low both those times.... Free T3 in November was not so good.. should be higher.... and by December it dropped as did the TSH... Have they checked antibodies? They should... to find out for sure what is making your thyroid unhappy... it might have been that evil supplement that you took.... it's no wonder they took it off the market.... You said that you just started sublingual... that should increase your absorption.... are you monitoring waking temp and pulse yet...? to see how your body reacts? When are you due for you next labs? Ideally, now, it should be six weeks from changing how you are taking the Armour, since it will change your absorption.... I don't remember seeing if you listed what your doses have been.... Could you do that? I want to relate dosage adjustments, if any, with the changes in the lab results.... Guest guest
Hi , My dosage is 2 grains of Armour per day in divided doses. I take one upon waking, and the other at 5 p.m. I am Hypogonadal, so this year I have been trying different protocols. I have found a correlation with higher Testosterone levels to lower TSH levels. also thinks I might be HypoPituitary, but I am not sure I agree with him, but will investigate that more. What in the world causes these endocrine organ failures? We did the APO and it was <10. But no specific value was given, just <10. Yes I just started the Sublingual, and have not taken temps yet, but I have felt pretty good the last couple of days since starting. --Bruce Re: Need advise on my labs Here's your labs.... Guest guest
Were you taking T2 for the body building? I don't know much about body building, but I understand that T2 is sometimes used for this. If you were, that would definitely make a big difference in your thyroid testing, would it not? This doctor is very erratic at his thyroid test ordering. All you really need for thyroid testing is the Free T4, Free T3, and the TSH. Of course, your cortisol and DHEA are important too, if you've been found to have adrenal fatigue. The Totals, Uptakes, and so forth are only estimates of what the Frees directly tell you, and I don't know why they waste people's money on the others, if you have had the Frees done. Guest guest
If he's got Hashi's, that iodine the ND is giving him is play #eLL with his thyroid gland and those munchy little antibodies. If he didn't have an antibody problem, he may have by now. This doctor gives VERY erratic labs, almost schiz, would you say? Not consistent in the ones he gives. What I think I'm seeing here is a thyroid that makes low T4. Then, when it goes lower, the body starts desperately converting what little he's got to T3, about a thousand miles and hr, let's say (he is still converting well, but not much T4 to work with yet). That doc needs to give him some thyroid hormone!! Aaaaagh!! He's spending his money with him, while the doc is prolonging the process, and probably on a lot of supplements right there in the doc's office. Re: Need advise on my labs Here's your labs....
