This is definitely the season of miracles, and I just received one of

those miracles myself!

As you all know, I was approved for the power chair, and it was

ordered. I don't remember if I told you that I am scheduled for the

final fitting and picking up that chair today.

Now, the National MS Society has kindly paid for the ramps for getting

the chair in and out of the van. I forgot to mention ordering the

ramps, to the lady at United Seating & Mobility when she got the

approval and my consent to not having the seat lift, to order the ramps

as well when she ordered the chair. I assumed that she would remember,

and do such.

I did call her a day or so after we ordered the chair, and mentioned a

lip type fiction that goes with the ramps to be placed inside the van to

make additional rampage or something.. just a little safer than just the

ramps hanging on the van... and asked her if she would order those along

with the ramps.. she told me she'd check with Tom (my rep) to get his

opinion on that.. and she'd order them

Now, I did NOT think to call her and check to see if she'd ordered

them.. figured she knew her job and didn't need me telling her how to do

it.. (I should have)..

I called on Monday, to check the status of the ramps.. because

asked me to.. his boss wouldn't have waited that long to make sure

things were going smoothly.. he has a tendency to believe that most

people do not do their job as they should.. and have to be reminded,

prompted etc.. to get things done..

Well, when I left the message, cause once again Joyce was away from her

desk or on the other line (usually the case.. IF she's not gone early

for the weekend if you call on Friday).. When she returned my call, she

told me that she had checked with the shippers or company and that my

ramps were shipping on Monday.. I asked her where they were being

shipped to.. and when she told me that they were being shipped to my

house.. I said " Ut Oh " ...

And then I had to explain to her, as I've had to explain to everyone

delivering something to the house.. that UPS and FedEx can't find me..

that the last thing I ordered.. well some neighbor somewhere along Pine

Street is now the proud owner of a heating element for a Whirlpool ..

oven.. cause they just dropped the package on the porch.. somewhere..

along Pine Street... and that FedEx had delivered $2,000 worth of

medication and 30 syringes to a neighbor as well.. somewhere along Pine

Street.. (they went back and got that though).. So.. delivering my ramps

to my house.. was NOT a good idea..

I asked if she could change the delivery destination.. to the funeral

home where works.. She called back and said " Yes, they were able to

change the destination " ..

So, I'm thinking we're all set and ready to go.. chair comes home on

Thursday...

When the ramps hadn't arrived at the funeral home by yesterday morning..

I called Joyce back again, and asked her if there was any way for her to

track them, as they hadn't been delivered yet.. She called back to tell

me.. that the ramps would not be delivered until FRIDAY!!

Well, without the ramps.. I can't load the chair into the van to bring

it home... But she oh so graciously added.. that I could keep my

appointment for today.. have the final fitting for the chair and that

they would then do a home delivery of the chair.. but she didn't say

WHEN that delivery would be... OR I could reschedule my appointment..

but the only problem with that was the earliest appointment they had

available was in JANUARY!

Yes.. you got it right.. I was upset..

I even called the eventually-2-b-x-hubby and asked him what kind of

ramps he was using for the race car these days.. turns out the box

trailer for the car has that fold down wooden ramp (the back door on the

trailer) that's attached.. for a ramp.. and the only ramps he has are

wooden ones he made to load the quad onto the pick up truck.. and those

just didn't quite cut it for loading this chair..

THEN.. I opened my cell phone bill and nearly had a heart attack..

(GOTTA LOOK FOR THE FINE PRINT AND READ IT!!!!).. because my thinking I

was saving money by switching to the 200 minute basic plan.. since

mobile to mobile didn't cost anything was WRONG!!! I got charged for

EVERY freaking minute.. and nearly died when I saw that my new bill was

close $300 due January 7th or something like that...

To say the least.. my day was NOT going very well... Spent an hour on

the phone trying to straighten that out.. can't make payment

arrangements on a bill that isn't due yet.. but I DID get the plan

changed.. and even got my walkie-talkie devices turned back on at NO

charge.. lol..

But I'm completely and totally stressed at this point.. so much so..

that I was pretty sure I was going to end up CRAWLING to the bathroom..

because I couldn't get my legs to work at all..

So , the guy I do these input things for, tells me to " take a little

toke " (he as joking) and listen to California Dreaming by the Mamas &

Papas.. to chill out...

And I'm thinking.. yeah.. I need to chill.. so I loaded up the iPod with

some music.. took my gabapentin & baclofen.. a couple of tylenol for

good measure.. and was going to try and calm down.. I opened Solitaire..

and turned on the iPod..

Very first song to play was... " Jesus, Take The Wheel " ... and the CALM

hit me!!!! and I thought.. this is a reminder.. God has NEVER left you

down before when you were in need.. why would he start now.. So I

figured, when stopped at 's on his way to work this morning..

that the man WOULD have ramps we could use.. ( rents U-Hauls and

also has a transmission shop)..

Well.. Dave didn't have any ramps... not even for his own use around the

shop.. but he did tell that he'd have loaned them to us, at NO

charge, if he had them.. So I called a local U-Haul rental place.. he

didn't have any either.. but directed me to a rent-a-center that always

seems to have stuff.. The did... 8 foot ramps.. 29 inches in width.. the

chair is 28 1/2 inches in width..

THEN... Buster went crazy barking.. and I glanced out the living room

window.. and there stands a man in brown.. with a box in his hand.. I

couldn't figure out what on earth he was delivering.. and it wasn't even

address to me correctly.. box said Donna Hill.. he was looking for Hill's..

I still couldn't figure out what would be coming in such a small box..

though it was HEAVY...

He said.. WAIT a minute.. I have another box on the truck for you.. and

he went to get it.. on his way back in.. he said.. I'm glad to get this

off the truck!.. it was heavy and huge!!

Now.. he went on to tell me that they are tearing up Pine Street.. Yes..

they started recently to dig up stuff to put in the sewage lines.. and

the street is so torn up that he can't get the UPS van the whole way

through the road.. so he's trying to find and delivery Pine Street stuff

from Oak Street!!!

Now just how did they end up being delivered to my home, when they were

supposed to be delivered to the funeral home, because they wouldn't be

able to find me because of the house sitting on Pine Street (that needs

to be torn down.. but $$$ prevents that from happening right now).. it

just so happens that they mis-deliver to my house AND that the road they

should have been delivering on is so torn up that they have to use the

road where I can be found from.. and he just happened to have a package

for the neighbors at 142 Pine Street.. so figured when he came to

deliver that package.. he FOUND 141 Pine Street!!!.. AND NOT on FRIDAY..

but the morning of my appointment...

I've now had my Christmas Miracle!!! Yup.. I fully understand we are

not all of the same religious persuasion here in the group.. and I

don't, by any means negate anyone else's religious beliefs.. nor

contradict or condemn.. but I AM fairly certain that everyone of us

believes in a " higher being " be it Judaism, Catholicism, Muslim, Islam,

etc..

I just have to say, in my case, with my religious background... let

" Jesus, Take the Wheel cause I can't do it on my own " .. and if you let

him.. he will!
