Guest guest
Hey Henry, Your problem is a first responder is putting someone on oxygen? Man how times have changed....this to me would be a " good " problem to have... Dudley Re: Volunteer FF treating patients(Our finding) Here is a similiar wrinkle that we have discovered. We have a volunteer Fire Figher that places patients on Oxygen routinely prior to our arrival. After several conversations with the state we have been informed that there is nothing that we can do to stop them. Even if we pull our affiliation with the organization and they loose their first responder status, this individual or anyone else in their department can continue to do as they please. No teeth in the First Responder Rules. Sponsoring transport agencies really have no control over the First Responder. Henry

Guest guest
Actually, a good number of first responders are certified as ECA or EMT status. Also, these organizations actually fall under the Good Samaritian Act...I have been a FR for 8 years, and the whole time as an EMT...and now going back to school for EMT-I...and STILL a first responder... > > > > Here is a similiar wrinkle that we have discovered. Guest guest
Because the general public does not know the difference. They think were all part of the EMS system. If nothing else, if they piss off the patient, we will be held responsible for it when we get on scene.
