Guest guest
Hi everyone: I have a question for those more experienced than I. I mentioned in my previous e-mails, diagnosed with CREST scleroderma, ANA down to 640. I am planning on getting braces on my teeth soon to correct a very bad bite with misaligned teeth. The orthodontist that I am seeing is concerned that the " stress " of moving my teeth may cause s flair up of the scleroderma. Does anyone have any experience in this area....braces and how it affects your body. The bite problem needs to be fixed somehow and can't be ignored anymore. Thanks, Roni
Guest guest
Roni- I think your doctor is on to something. I developed RA about a year after having my braces put on and have always wondered if this had something to do with it., I get my braces off next month and can only hope my RA will disappear but I know this may be unlikely. If you ask me would I do it again? No, I would have kept my funny crooked smile and better health. Maybe plastic braces may be better but if you are doing good now i wouldnt mess up a good thing. Well best of luck- Jen
