That's weird, I got your reply before I got the message I posted.

Probably far. My family is from Illinois and my husband's is from New York.

We're trying to move closer to family and a cheaper area.

As for advice, I don't really know much about what's over the hill except for

Stanford. They have a great reputation and we had Clara's hearing tested

there when she was 11 months old. The audiologist there was very nice, but the

audiologist we have here thinks we may have gotten a false result from that

test. It shows a moderate loss in the left ear and all subsequent tests

consistently show a severe/profound loss. I also have a severe/profound loss in

my

left ear so it makes sense that Clara would as well. We are going to have an

ABR done to confirm the degree of loss in her left ear in San . I'm really

disorganized right now and can't find where I wrote the information about the

place down, but it's Santa Clara Medical Center, or something like that. The

person there is in charge of the newborn screening program in Santa Clara and

does ABRs on children all day long so she is experienced with that at least.

Good luck to you,

Cheryl

Great to be close to family. We are about 5 minutes from my parents.

We have had an ABR and ASSR for Ian. Those results are about the same as

the behavioral results we got. He has mild/moderate in both ears.

We go to the California Ear Institute. The testing was done in San Ramon,

but they also have offices in Palo Alto and San .

Hey, I used to live in Santa Cruz! Well, Bonny Doon to be exact.

had his CI surgery at California Ear Institute-Stanford by

Dr. Joe Roberson. went to school for one year at the Toro

School for the Hearing Impaired midway between Salinas and Monterey

in Toro Park off of Highway 68 (I think!). That was a SEE

program. Then, after he got his implant, he went to the Jean

Weingarten Peninsula Oral School for the Deaf (JWPOSD) in Redwood

City. I know ALL the back roads for getting there!! (Back then

(1997-2001), Santa Cruz County had an ASL preschool program, and we

didn't want that. Does it even still exist?) We moved to

Massachusetts in July, 2001.

Cheryl -- I am curious who Clara's Early Intervention

teachers/therapists are. I would love to get in touch with them if

they are the same people still. Email me privately if you want.
