Guest guest
day five Hello, You will not believe it- my endo RX ARMOUR THYROID for me! Am using 60mg twice a day sublingually. Today is first day. Since I have already begun porcine from nutri-meds... it will be interesting to see " if I can tell the difference. " Was DX Hashis in April - saw an endo in Sept. - less than a year to try Armour. I have been vigilant went to E.R. twice and was admitted once for 5 days. Getting better in wee little bits-have DX of fibro now and can maybe concentrate on what is a good diet regime for both conditions. (There is some arthritis being checked on now.) Does anyone have diet advice for multiple conditions? -Bobbie
Guest guest
I am waayyy behind on my emails, doggonit. Are you saying that you have 130 mg tabs of thyroid, which you are splitting and taking 65 mgs of in the evening, and that you're only taking it in the evening? Or are you saying that you are taking 1/2 of a 65 mg tab in the evening? started > day one > > Yippie! > > Started my regime of 1/2 tablet(1/2 = 65mg) porcine med in the evening. > > Been several hours, no side effects. > > My eyes are sinking in though-expect this to clear up in a few days. > > Am filled with excitement and anticipation.. (one would never guess I > am thrilled on the outside).... > > Bobbie
Guest guest
Now day seven on Armour (skipped day six) Hello! Have to say I am doing more things at home, still cannot 'concentrate' on them. The 'doing' is big as I have been always sleeping and confined to laying down most of the day. What did I do- made meals! watered plants! yippie!! Have laundry from last summer, will be so glad when I can start on this. Dishes from 2 months I may try to strt into tommorrow : ) -Bobbie (cannot believe the difference from a mere med switch)

Guest guest
Thanks Topper, for the podcast links. Do you mean to say you went ten years before using Armour? Or that you had the condition for 10 years? I am about there-10 years, 9 1/2 to get a DX, then only 9 months to get what is likely the right med. Am tired of couse but did more than usual, a friend drove today so it was easier to do a few errands, God bless our friends. Today I am terribly itchy on face & neck. Precipitated from a haircut, had ten inches taken off, I cannot believe what awful condition it was in. Couldn't tell from looking in a mirror that I was sporting the Hashi hairstyle. -Bonnie (i meant to sign Bobbie - now I am forgetting my name- yikes!) : )

Guest guest
I've learned it's my job to say " no doc, I think it's more than that, I want it looked into more. " I have been with my family doc for almost 20 yrs, and I will start relating to her more as an equal. I can feel intimidated by my weight, and so when I go into a doc and they say " you need to lose weight, " I have tended to just wilt. I will start saying " no doc, I think this is more than that, this is more serious, I want this looked into more. " I went to my knee doc this summer, had my hours fresh x-rays in hand. He said, literally " you have shitty knees, " then went on to explain more. From knowing the shape my knees are in, he sympathized that folks like me don't want to exercise when it means pain. We agreed swimming is all I will be able to do without having pain. So, bless his heart ! I almost cried when he sympathized. For myself, I don't want to dislike docs as a whole, or be suspicious of them. I want to learn how to work with them to get the best I can. That means I educate myself and am more assertive. It means I go to doc after doc after doc if I need to, till I get what I need. I get my family doc to be my ally, to work with me to advocate for my health. There are many things I don't know, so there are health things I will miss noticing till they come up and I educate myself on them. I want to accept that docs make mistakes, as educated those mistakes may be. I want to accept that as the reality, and learn how to work with it. I don't want to be bitter against docs as a whole. Docs are not gods, unfortunately, and those who take the power patients give them and try to be invincible, those docs have ego problems. I don't want to be bitter because I've found out that docs are mortal, just like me. My family doc does a practice share, she works Mon through Wed, partner does Th and Fri. I talked to her partner-share doc on Friday, for how I could talk with my doc about how she missed my thyroid, and the talk could be profitable. I don't want to blame my doc, I don't want to condemn her, I don't want to beat her over the head with her lapse. I'm not going to sue her. I want to learn how best to work with her. It was a real good talk with her practice- partner. As I chew more on what was said, I look forward to being able to talk with my doc about this supposed miss and learn more of how to advocate for my health. Docs make mistakes. I want to learn what I can do to help fill in those holes as much as I can. jane
