Hello .

I have those except that my doctor calls them mini strokes which is just as

well as I can never remember TIA. I take a blood thinner every day but I did

have one last week. I hope that every thing goes well and if you need to

stay in the hospital for testing at least you know that something is being

done and it looks like your doctor listens to you and that is good.

Let us hear from you when you get home and when you get the results of your

MRI.

Take care,

Irene

Glad to hear from you again. I am not but a TIA is Transient Ischemic

Attack. It resembles a stroke but the symptoms last a short time. I call them

mini strokes as I have had a few. I take a blood thinner to try to prevent

anymore but I had one last week which I should not have because of the blood

thinner. My doctor wanted to put me on a different blood thinner but it

would make me a bleeder and as I have a tendency to fall often, it was

decided not to do so.

There you know more about a TIA then you wanted to. I hope that you have

been doing well but the fact that you needed someone to talk to a couple of

weeks ago doesn't sound like you are. I hope that things are going better

now. Please let me know how you are doing?

Take care of yourself,

Irene

Don't be scared. Talk to your doctor about the chances of your having a

major stroke. I wouldn't worry about it myself. The blood thinner should

take care of any chance of having TIA's. If you do by chance have one, call

your doctor or go to ER. I have one since taking blood thinners and my

doctor was not to concerned. You do, of course, think of a stroke but try

not to let it dominate your thoughts.

In the scheme of things, TIA's are not a major problem to me. There are to

many other things that I have going in my life.

Hi,

Back home after the 6 month check up and wander around a bit of Australia. I

see everyone has been busy in my absence with xhundred emails...... My Dr.

Len says the xrays indicate my BHR/femur is 'disguestingly

excellent'.......... and he was as delighted as me about my

progress.........still marvelling how so few muscles have come alive enough

to do what I do......... He had a young OS visiting so I could play the

grateful patient and show off very well............

Dr. Len Walter has a research paper to be released soon on what he has

established about the ions situation.......... Briefly (and from my

interpretation of what he said) he says we face about the same risk as those

working in foundaries and there doesn't appear to be any evidence that they

have undue problems from their occupation working with metals.

I also asked him about the issue of cracking femur heads that comes to my

attention............. He says that there is no reason for me to expect that

the top of my femur will fracture any more than the normal hip.........that

in my case because I am now putting almost normal weight bearing

distribution back onto the femur I can expect the bone to get stronger - it

was starting to show thinning..........and if this reverses sometime in the

future he feels it is just a matter of taking the necessary hormones to sort

that out.............. And one cannot repair a fracture of the femur head as

they generally crack across the blood supply and thus the femur head

dies............

All my friends I visited are amazed with the new me........... many have not

seen me for 10-15 years and kept saying I was 10 years younger than the last

time they saw me............ the hip area is only growing in flexibility and

walking getting steadier and more normal...........

Oh and I only set the security screens off 2 of the 4 times........... not

sure just what that says about the various levels of screening.......smile.
