Guest guest
Congratulations on impressing your endo with all your thyca knowledge :-) A few comments ... > ... he did mention the > thyrogen, due to the fact that some of his patients > were not able to follow the lid. I don't know why some doctors don't realize that the benefits of the LID are unrelated to how one goes hypo. Doing the diet is at least as important when using Thyrogen as it is for " natural " withdrawal. > They used to believe that when > they removed the remaining thyroid gland and it showed > a malignancy it would be the same. He said not so > anymore. and it's usually worse. Does that make sense? Are you saying that the malignancy on the second lobe is generally worse than on the first lobe? This makes sense to me if, as in your case, there's a years-long gap between the two surgeries, or between the FNA and surgery. But if they're all done pretty much at the same time, I can't imagine why this would be the case. > although I am not looking forward to going through > this all over again, I do look forward to putting this > part behind me. Most people who've gone through a PT and then completion surgery have said that if anything, the second surgery is easier than the first. > I didn't go through any of the hypo > stuff or rai treatment with the 1st surgery, so all of > that will be new to me. And you're already pretty much an expert on all of it, so it'll be a breeze :-) BTW - since your endo seems impressed by what you've learned through this group, he may well be interested (or even eager) to spread the news to his other patients. If you write to Cherry Wunderlich ( cwunderlich@... ), she can arrange to send ThyCa brochures to your doctor. - NYC
