Guest guest
oops - I think I just pushed the send button with no reply... Jill, I have been shaking when has been out of the brace for an extra 1/2 to an hour. To be a month out of it could be way too much. Hopefully Brodie will not relapse in the future. used to scream, pull out of the shoes, flip flop, etc..... gave us the idea to wait until he is asleep and put the shoes on then. It worked. He would wake up in the middle of the night pissed that his feet are tight together but get over it in about 1/2 hour or so. tight strap - use both hands and pull as hard as you can, tight laces, non skid socks, elevate the bar with a blanket, put him in your bed for a bit; later release the laces for more comfort but not the strap, make sure the length of the bar - bolt to bolt on the heal = the shoulder length. maybe the tenotomy did not go too well and the heal is not down enough - causes discomfort. Or the rotation from the last cast - 70%. If the foot has gotten used to being relaxed < 70%, you will have trouble with the brace. No matter what, do not take the bar off!!! Dessi ( 9-17-02) Brodie's Doctor Appointment Hi everyone. Well, we took Brodie to the doctor and thankfully he did not have to get casts, I was almost positive he would. She says that his feet are looking good and that the left foot, which is the worse, will probably have to have the tenotomy again. We were told to at least get the shoes on him if the bar wont work. I am going to try my best, he has had the shoes on for a while with no screaming so lets see what happens with the bar, I think I will wait until he is ready to go to sleep, then see if we cant keep it on for a while when he gets up. I cant believe how well he has done without wearing them at all for the last month, but, I know eventually he will relapse if I dont get to it with the bar. ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO DEAL WITH THE SCREAMING AND HOW TO HELP HIM WITH THE BAR ARE WELCOME AND VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.Also, we have the inserts in the shoes but he still manages to get out of them any suggestions?? Thanks alot for all the help. Jill
