Guest guest
How is everyone dealing with sound access at the movies? We had a really bad time the other day when we went to Spiderman. We recently moved and are using a new theater which has FM headsets. These have usually worked ok for Matt in other venues if he cranks up the volume since he has a mixed mod/sev loss. This theater only had 2 very poor quality headsets (for 7 screens!) and each of them delivered sound to just one ear even though there were wires to both sides of the headphone. The staff could not tell us whether they were broken or whether they always worked like that. It was Regal Cinemas, which I gather from their website is the largest movie theater company in the country. Maybe as a group the Listen-Up listmembers could embarass the corporate management into providing better equipment in all of their locations. I was also wondering if Matt could bring in his own FM, but it would have to be set at the same frequency as the theater. I noticed that there was a sign about the FM and it was supposed to show the frequency they used, but it was left blank. I think with the Microlinks the receiving frequency has to be set by the audiologist. I was thinking, though, that since this is the only theater in town, and he is the only FM user in school, if we could set his system to the frequency the theater uses then he'd be all set to use his personal system there all the time. Has this worked for anyone else? Would appreciate your input-- LuAnn, Matt's mom
