Guest guest
Tonight we give Ethan his last dose of lamictal. We have decreased 37.5mg in about 10 days. The seizures have not improved, not have they worsened. HE has now been home from school 4 weeks because of these long seizures. Can we expect miracles? I must admit, I am not expecting the seizures to cease with this wean finally over, but I am expecting them to decrease, and I am certainly hoping that they will cease. We still have .25mg of clonipin on board. The wean has been difficult. He had initial seizure control when the diet started 2 months ago, but we lost it as we started weaning lamictal. WHile the seizures have worsened, his cognitive functioning is so much better. He is lucid, funny, and able to read and write well again. It is wonderful to see. The only one who doesn't see these improvements is Ethan, himself. He still hopes the diet doesn't work so he can get off of it. I must say, I am cheering against him on this one. , I was reading through postings from 2002 and noticed many from you about . I didn't realize you had been at this so long. YOu know so much about the issues discussed here, that I always read your postings with great interest. But, I don't quite remember where things are with right now. Have you been on the diet this whole time? I'm thinking you are in the process of weaning some medications. It sounds like you have been through a lot, as we all have. But I found myself thinking of you guys in particular and hoping that you are seeing improvements. Gretchen
