Hi,

We are slowly weaning the diet and we use the shakes also. My daughter

loves them and they work well as a meal replacement with some nuts. Great

for travel. Mel loves the strawberry.

Atkins shake idea

Hi Gang,

Some of you might know that my husband and I are doing Atkins

now. I finally broke down and bought those expensive shakes. I was

pleasantly surprised at how good it was, and even happier to read the

vitamin and mineral content.

Macie has been asking for chocolate milk lately, so I thought of

trying to mix some of the shake with cream. I plugged all the

numbers in using the full amount of carbs in the shake (not the net

carbs) just to be on the safe side. I used a bit more cream than

shake, then added a bit of sweetener (she's on 3.5 ratio right now)

She loved it! I whipped up some of the cream and mixed it with the

shake and froze for popsicles.

The shake contains a good amount of calcium (40% RDA for adults),

magnesium, selenium, Vitamin B's, folic acid....about 20 listed. I

know the RDA would be much lower for the small amount she's getting,

but any extra helps.

Glenna,

I use those, too. Recently they were on sale at our Wal-Mart in a

6pk (not a 4pk) for 2.99 (50cents each). I stocked up. We like all

the flavors... but chocolate mixed with cream and some Bickford

almond or hazlenut is to die for (according to my worldly 7yr old!!)
