Guest guest
Thanks everyone, for the ideas. The nystatin seems to be working. I don't use mouthwash so that is not a problem. I have plenty of yogurt on hand so I'm going to eat a couple of servings of that each day this week. I forgot about the ice during treatments Ann, thanks. I think for now it is coming under control. I'll take better care not to eat anything that will aggravate or help create mouth sores until the end of treatments. Sadly I had just picked a bunch of fresh delicious oranges at a friends house this week. I told Mike to make sure he uses them in his fruit drink he makes every morning. I don't want to see fresh organic oranges go to waste. This morning I'll have oatmeal with yogurt. I'll make my egg and pastine soup for lunch and a salad with no vinegar dressing for supper. I'll have to start looking for other bland foods for full meals. I can't live on this stuff for the next 5 months, LOL. It's hard when you're not used to eating this way. :-/ But thank you all those who had input. LICS June "The best protection any woman can have...is courage." First off, are you chewing ice when you get your chemo? You MUST chew ice - this prevents mouth sores. The one time I got them, I was too busy talking to the lady next to me - didn't keep the ice in my mouth - and really paid for it. Secondly, I can't remember - is the nystatin a liquid or pill? I got something called Magic Mouth Wash (a prescription, which I'm pretty sure had nystatin in it). I also got a script for diflucan. In addition, try switching to biotene toothpaste. Don't use any alcohol based mouthwashes. And as for citric foods, spices, etc., you know the answer....they'll only aggravate the situation. If the nystatin isn't giving you relief, please call your onc - mouth sores can get pretty bad without help. Wish you weren't going through this.... Guest guest
Yes, they are gone, thank you. The Nystatin, plus some lysine and a topical called Kanka, I used them all, LOL. Knocked those things right out. LICS June "The best protection any woman can have...is courage."
