I just went through the reentry process after having

my Texas Medic Certification inactive for 10 years.

When I started trying to piece together what I had to

do to get back, I was told that I had to do a live,

DSHS-approved Paramedic Recert Course. The course had

to include skills instruction and testing.

I took a 3 month, 96 hour course at our local Junior

College. After completing that program, I was able to

apply to sit for my EMT-P exam. I took my test last

night and should know how it turned out in 2 or 3

weeks.

All of this recert/reentry stuff is pretty fresh on my

mind, so if I can help let me know.

I spent 8 years in EMS before heading for law school.

Even after 13 years of law practice, my heart always

stayed with EMS. I have law review editor experience,

etc., and I think editing, contributing, authoring EMS

law and ethics books, articles, chapters would be a

blast.

Let me know if you need me. I'll never be a Jim Page;

but then, who will.

I got interested in EMS after doing some ride-alongs in Lubbock while in law

school. Donn persuaded me to come to the second EMStock after he saw some young

lawyer making posts on this list. After coming back home to Austin and finally

finding a job, I went ahead and got my EMT certification. Paramedic school

looks very likely in the near future. Thanks (or curses) to all of y'all who've

mentored and/or badgered me over the years. You know who you are.
