Guest guest
Sometimes if the body can't properly absorb calcium, one of the results can be high cholesterol. That, in turn, can generate gall stones. If she has her gall bladder out, have them check to see what the makeup of the gallstones are. Their makeup may give you some clue to what is going on internally. Calcium deficiency is not just not having calcium. It also is when you body is getting calcium, but just not absorbing it properly. Has she had a bone density exam? Thyroid disease itself (being hypo) can sure strip you of bone, and synthroid really doesn't protect you against bone loss (in fact, my guess is that synthroid is a secondary culprit). ---Jan
