Guest guest
Bobby - I'm curious: how long did it take for you to enter NSR after initiating the flecainide? Re: Flecamide experience? Works great for me. I went from 100% afib to 100% NSR and I have been there for over seven years.
Guest guest
I had electro cardioversion to achieve NSR. The initial dose of flecainide kept me in NSR for a few weeks, then afib struck again. I had another cardioversion and my dose was increased to 150 x 2. I remained in NSR for another year or so. Afib struck again and I converted in triage at the hospital (without cardioversion for the first time)! Since then, when I have an episode (every 1.5 to 2 years) I take an extra tablet (Dr's standing orders)and take a nap. I convert on my own. A few points- - Before I was diagnosed, I feel I had been in afib for years, possibly since I was a child. I had never known a heartbeat with rhythm. - The size of my atrium has changed from enlarged to near normal size since I am controlled. - I can take a double dose (300 mg at one time) of flecainide (Dr's orders) and it won't kill me. - This has been effective for over seven years. In the beginning people told me it would work for a short time then I would have to advance to something else. - Many people have little or no side effects (mainly visual effects) while others just cannot stand it at all. - Side effects are short lived in those of us that have the mild side effects.
