Guest guest
Hi, my name is Sandy. I've been a member of this group just about since its inception, but took a hiatus a while ago to concentrate on my work. I would like to say hello to all my old afib friends here, and to say that I hope you are all doing well. I've had vagally mediated paroxysmal afib for eight years, with some bad years and some good years. I've tried just about everything, including giving up dairy, giving up the evening meal, giving up caffeine and my glass of wine with dinner, etc etc etc and eventually came to the conclusion that it doesn't really make much difference what I do or don't do, afib happens. It turned out the important thing for me was to give up blaming myself for it. I had a period of time when I was doing well enough to travel again in my business, and that was really fun. A few months ago, though, I started to have more frequent episodes, and now they are occurring about 3 times a week and lasting about 12 hours each. I've been unable to work a full week, mostly due to lack of sleep, since my episodes usually occur at night. I take Cardizem CD 180mg, Toprol XL 50mg, and 326mg aspirin a day. I went to visit the EP at Duke and he suggested starting dofetilide. So I'm going into the hospital on Aug. 27 to give it a shot.
