Guest guest
Hi All- My name is Liz Fiordalisi and I have a 4 (5 in April) year old son with ASD and colitis. We are in the midst of a major flare-up (I think bacteria) with alot of diarrhea and pain. He has been on Neomycin, Flagyll and Diflucan for a while now with little to no improvment. So, today our DAN! doctor told me to put him on the SCD diet. We tried the SCD diet last year for a little over 3 months without any changes. However, we dove right in with all the nut flours and foods rather than taking it slow. We were forced to give it up because my son was eating a ton of meat and we came to find out that his cholesterol was over 500. Anyway, we have since learned that he was majorily growth hormone deficient (from birth) and that growth hormone regulates cholesterol. He has been on growth hormone supplementation since May of last year and his cholesterol is perfect. So, we will begin the SCD this weekend and not look back. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to start out (properly)? I have the book Breaking the Vicious Cycle- but I am still confused as to what foods to start with. Thanks, Liz
