Guest guest
, I only can tell you what Dr.Ponsetti emailed me when i asked him how long Isabella should be in the DBB after her 3 months full time. He said all clubbed feet children doing the ponsetti method should be in the DBB 23 hours a day for the first 3 months then 18 hours a day until they start walking then after they start walking 14-16 hours a day until age 3. If you are concerned about it i would email Dr.Ponsetti and tell him what your doctor has said and ask him what he thinks you should do. Dr.Ponsetti said and i quote " Many physicians and parents feel it is safe to discontinue use of the brace earlier, but we have found there is a very high likelihood of recurrence if the brace is discontinued too soon. " I have the whole email if you would like to read it. I hope this helps. (Isabella bilateral cf 10-12-02) > Well zachary went for his 1 month check up since he had the DBB put > on. Guest guest
Hi , I am hesitant to say anything against what your doctor has recommended. Emma is actually seeing Dr. son now for some further correction. But I am a great believer in the Ponseti method as written. It has a long track record with proven results. Because of this my own opinion is that you should do your full time in the FAB (3 months at 23hrs/day) and then move to just nights or nights and naps. Of course you are anxious for that special time when you get to have them out of the brace more often. But really this is not that long a time, and since the tendancy in the foot is still there for the foot to tighten, it is always better safe than sorry. This is your decision to make, and if you are concerned at all you can call or email Dr. Ponseti for advice. Again, this is just my opinion, and I hope it helps, -. question and need advice or suggestions Well zachary went for his 1 month check up since he had the DBB put on. Dr davidson so very happy with the results more than she thought. as zachary is a older child. and has had been treated once before but it wasn't a success. now with the ponseti method it has done wonders. She suggested maybe we should now go only naps and nite time with the DBB he is 5 weeks ahead of when that was surpose to be done. I have been doing stretchs with his right foot to help get the ankle not to be so tight. and he has worked. which she was very happy but i am wondering if i should keep doing what i am and keep is DBB on for 23 hours as normal. until his 5 weeks is done. I am worried that a another relapes will happen. he has been through enough with one docter doing one method and now having dr davidson has been great. i just don't want to see my son again in cast. hope someone can help me or suggestions monica and zachary (07/09/02 right clubfoot. here is our website so u can see what his foot looks like http://monicahadlington.tripod.com
