Guest guest
Tina it could be related to calories, either too many (he would be burning carbs rather than fat) or too few (running out of 'fuel' in the early morning). Has he gained or lost weight? The large ketones in the am may be a red herring as the urine is probably a mix of the very high from the night before and the very weak from the early morning. What is his morning blood sugar like? The use of a blood ketone testing kit could really help you sort this out as it is a much more reliable method than testing urine. Guest guest
My keto team doesn't feel that a blood ketone test kit would be worthwhile. Maybe I should push this if we don't get some favorable changes soon. Thanks to those who have responded. I am anxious for the next change, but I have a feeling they will drop topamax instead of changing the ratio or calories. This one change at a time thing makes it drag out so long. Argh! If you think of anything else, please let me know. Tina Buckner > >'s ketones are all over the map.
